Lovely pub, friendly staff but beware nightclub entrance/exit inside courtyard!
Husband and I were having a romantic stay just the two of us for two nights.
On arrival we were informed there was a pizzeria in the courtyard that our room overlooked, should we like to visit. Tthe room itself was small but pleasant and clean, nice toiletries and earplugs?. in the bathroom. We went out for dinner and drinks and on getting back could hear and see lights flashing and people enjoying themselves in the courtyard-nothing bad there we thought, as we knew the pizzeria was there. We were in the town centre too therefore I expected pub noise, people, taxi noise etc...until the noise and lights went on until 3.30am. We were wide awake and looked to see on the internet what nightclubs were in the area-lo and behold, listed separately on a different website (NOT on the Kings Arms Hotel site or I certainly would NOT have booked!) was The Loft nightclub which came under the Kings Arms courtyard address and which we were looking at it's doorway from our bedroom window. We also found a review stating a similar complaint about the noise, earplugs which should have been a dead giveaway (they weren't aware of a club either)and our room n.o. 7 in particular. (wish I had seen it earlier)After an hour's sleep through the night, the next morning I complained to a very apologetic receptionist, who contacted the manager and requested a refund for my second night's stay as the thought of another night of racket was unbearable. I am pleased to say that the refund has been processed. If you want to sleep through the night DO NOT stay here. The Loft club needs to be added to the HOTEL website so people can make a more informed decision about their stay here. This is NOT regular main street Saturday night noise (as the receptionist said) I am not naive and unreasonable. This is a nightclub NOT listed on their website and RIGHT OUTSIDE your window and they need to make this clear at the outset.
