About the hotel
Alpine Lodge Guest House in Buxton is now into its fifth year and has again retained the AA 4* Gold Accreditation for 2016! Built in the late 19th Century in the heart of Victorian Buxton, Alpine Lodge has been totally refurbished to create welcoming and luxurious bed and breakfast (B&B) accommodation, situated in a tree-lined residential road within close proximity to the town centre, Buxton Opera House and the Pavilion Gardens a mere 10 minutes stroll from the house. A wonderful selection of excellent quality restaurants, wine bars and traditional pubs are all within short walking distance. A full English breakfast is on the menu using locally sourced produce - in particular the bacon and sausage are provided by a local breeder of rare pigs who is passionate about animal welfare - which is reflected in the taste! Also on offer are lighter options of delicious smoked salmon over scrambled eggs on a toasted muffin, eggs florentine and a great selection of continental pastries served with jams and marmalade or a selection of cheeses.
Buxton is well known for its Victorian architecture and attracts visitors from all over the world with many cultural events staged throughout the year, especially in July with the spectacular Buxton Festival - a glittering line-up of concerts and recitals from a great roster of celebrated artists - the highly regarded and ever increasing Buxton Fringe; and for the more adventurous - various walking and cycling activities throughout the year ! The location also makes it a superb base from which to explore the Peak District National Park and Derbyshire Dales taking in the Goyt Valley, Kinder Scout and the Manifold Valley. Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Hardwick Hall and Lyme Park are all within easy travelling distance - local bus and train services make them all easy to visit without the need to take the car. Bakewell, Dove Dale, Castleton, Ashbourne and Matlock - to name but a few - are all close by.

Alpine Lodge Guest House
A little gem.
We received a very warm welcome and were allowed to check in a little earlier than planned (around 2pm) when we booked. The room was very large, with a massive double bed that was extremely comfortable and a very impressive bathroom - again, very large with plenty of towels. The radiators were brilliant and kept the room very warm indeed. The free wi-fi meant that we could plan our days while we were there and the breakfasts were freshly cooked and generous. Best of all, although in a quiet street this was about 2 minutes walk from the centre of Buxton (4 minutes to the Pavilion) and only about 5 minutes to the station. There was the usual hospitality tray but instead of those tiny plastic cartons of long life milk we were given a flask of fresh milk each day. Definitely going back; the only thing I'd change is the weather but that was beyond their control and to be expected in November. Very highly recommended.
Lovely clean peaceful friendly relations place to stay
We need not stopped over one night but would have no hesitating in returning or recommending, quiet, clean, friendly, great breakfast, just a relaxing place to stay close to the centre of Buxton and nice not to have the formal fuss of a hotel, thank you
