This hotel has a superb location and excellent staff who go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable.
The executive room we stayed in was pleasant but dated, not like the double rooms that we looked at on the web site which look to have been refurbished. The breakfast was most enjoyable and the service impeccable. We had dinner but we're not very impressed as the price did not match the standard of food. It may have been our fault as we ordered steak and found it tasteless as we are used to highly seasoned meat. I wish we would have had the cottage pie or chicken as we saw the waitress bring some out and it looked superb. Yet again I must stress that the staff are excellent and are a credit to the hotel.
Excellent service, accommodation and evening meal - shame about breakfast
There was a slight issue with our room on arrival but this was quickly and professionally dealt with by the duty manager.
We ended up in room number 4, which was spacious and comfortable with excellent views. We dined at the hotel that evening. The food was extremely good and, again, the service was excellent, the manager being particularly attentive. Breakfast was another story: whilst the hotel obviously uses high-quality ingredients, presentation was rather mediocre and the service in general was very poor. Despite our arriving 30 minutes before breakfast service ended, many items on the buffet table were in need of replenishment and it took a while to find a member of staff to raise this with. When we did, I mentioned that my wife and I wanted the fresh fruit salad and yoghourt (both of which had run out) and asked the waiter whether he would be serving us this at our table or replenishing the buffet, in which case would he let us know when this had been done so we could then help ourselves. He told me he wasn't sure and would check but never returned with an answer. In the meantime, some five minutes after I had made that request, we were served with our cooked breakfast meaning we had to forego the 'starter'; we didn't want to cause a fuss by sending the cooked breakfast back.
It's a shame because breakfast on the final day is one's last experience of the stay and needs to be a positive one. All in all, this was a good stay but a few little tweaks at breakfast could have made it a great stay.
Half way break in journey
I expected this hotel chain to be busier we and one other couple were the only two in the dining room, dining room too austere.
The food was not up to standard for an a la carte menu. The room was clean but a little dated.
Rebecca on reception
From first arriving @ this beautiful hotel Rebecca on reception was so helpful with my queries.
Relaxing overnight stay
We stayed at Best Western Whitworth Hall Hotel for one night (60th birthday treat), and found the service excellent, the food excellent, the location was fabulous, we wouldn't hesitate to stay again.
BEST WESTERN Whitworth Hall Country Park Hotel
Excellent staff from reception, the bar and dining room particularly a very kind young lady who went the extra mile when we turned up for breakfast ten minutes late.
Hotel has great staff but is let down by facilities
This hotel has great staff who are friendly and helpful.
However, it is let down by its infrastructure. The bedroom was super heated, the furniture was damaged and chipped, the extractor fan in the bathroom was not working and the bathroom itself smelt of the vegetables being cooked downstairs. The breakfast was good but look out for the watered down orange juice and the 'fizzy' grapefruit juice.
When we arrived, our room was not ready, but they upgraded us to a fab room.
We had Afternoon Tea was was lovely, ate in the Library restaurant for Dinner which was wonderful. Breakfast also good
