Lovely pub with nice rooms in a great remote location.
I booked a double/twin room & was allocated the latter of which I asked if possible to have a double & was advised if I had made them aware of my requirement earlier they would have asked room service to make up as a double. I was then advised they were full & no doubles were available. Lovely food & overall very good service.
Such a brilliant hotel
Couldn't fault it.
Food, rooms, staff, setting all perfect.
Oaks room. Thin walls. Pub noise.
Booked on line - card not accepted so called to book - successfully.
On arrival told unreservedly and in a smug loud voice - and not front of others "card declined". No apologies when error realised. Just a bit of thought and proper training would have avoided that. Left an unpleasant taste in mouth. Room small for price paid - I travel Europe wide daily. Nice touch with fresh milk and coffee. Noise from next door. Could hear brushing teeth CLEARLY - and more besides. Breakfast very good. Attentive professional staff. Young man who served us earlier the day before not seen. We also stayed for lunch. That was excellent too. So food really good. Staff excellent - save the person checking in. Bedroom small and not at all private. Nice touches - fresh coffee and biscuits. Will stay again - not the Oaks or the one next to it - only to see if this was a blip.
Beautiful room and delicious evening meal Breakfast - brilliant.
Description of rooms
Our room - The Oaks - described as King-Luxury-Ensuite was a disappointment.
I would describe it as an ordinary room swamped by the king size bed and a range of mismatched furniture, including a lounger and footstool that seemed totally out of place and filled one corner. Thus limited room for two people to move around when getting ready. I thought that we had maybe got a smallish room but was assured at reception that it was the same size as most of the others.
Excellent night away.
The Holcombe Inn is a welcoming place with very freindly staff.
The rooms are fantastic and decorated to an exceptionally high standard. Rooms are clean and have everything you need. The restaurant serves excellent food and the bar has a good selection of local ales. Definitely five star accomodation. *****
Lovely experience from beginning to end
We had a lovely stay, friendly intelligent staff, wonderful atmosphere, perfect food & drink and comfy stylish rooms.
Highly recommended, one of the best.
