About the hotel
Each of our five bedrooms are en-suite, individually designed and decorated with all of the comforts and touches that you would desire. Most rooms have impressive views of the surrounding countryside and there is also ample parking in the grounds of the hotel. All rooms are non-smoking.
The restaurant offers a wide variety of quality dishes using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. If you are planning to eat with us please book in advance as we are often fully booked well in advance & especially at weekends. The bar serves an interesting selection of real ales, beers and wines and the accommodation offers five en-suite rooms. The Ship’s unique ambience and stylish but warm décor, offers ample opportunity to relax away from it all - whether you are simply dropping in for a drink or bite to eat, or staying for business or pleasure. The bar area has two sections - The Main Bar with a traditional flagstone floor, low ceiling and roaring log fire and the Lounge Bar which is light and airy with stripped oak floorboards and chunky farmhouse furniture. There is an extensive selection of beers, ciders & wines available, with tapped real ales on offer from three local breweries and a guest ale that changes weekly. Recent guest ales have included the likes of Butcombe, Exmoor Gold, Otter Ale, Bath Ales, Spitfire and Timothy Taylor. We offer an interesting and varied wine list ranging from the more well known classic French wines, through to the ever popular New World wines. The versatile menu at The Ship caters both for those who want a hearty sandwich and a pint, to those who want to enjoy a full three-course meal with a decent bottle of wine. Our dishes are a blend of the traditional and the not so familiar, with a specials board and fresh fish board that offer further daily choices. .

Excellent one sight stay
We stayed for one night in a lovely, spacious room which had lots of character.
Our evening meal was very enjoyable and there was a good selection on the menu. The breakfast was excellent. We were very impressed with the politeness and efficiency of all of the staff.
overnight stay whilst touring
The room was small with a small en-suite and the shower cubicle was small also.
However, it was clean and comfortable. The food choice was very good and the food was excellent. However, tables in the restaurant were not set aside for residents so we managed to get a table in the bar. It seemed to us that locals were accommodated over residents. We are not dog lovers and unfortunately a dog was at the table beside us and it was wet and it stank. I do not agree with dogs in food establishments.
