Better than many pub/hotels, I'd say.
Liked the pictures of old steam locomotives lining walls, and the whole set-up of stairs and corridors, solid wood furniture etc. Lady on reception very friendly and helpful; in fact all the local people seemed very nice and friendly, which we both remarked on. Town nicer than I expected, found it a bit dead at night though, or maybe we just didn't know the right places. Were only there 1 night. Breakfast fine. Hotel a bit on the expensive side, I'd say, at least for us northerners, but it was high season.
