Family getaway, good value
My wife, 2 children and I stayed at the Royal Breakwater for one night during a quick tour of the south west.
The hotel is situated in rundown back street, but don't let this put you off. There is no parking area, but free roadside parking was always available and there is a paid car park across the road. Portland Castle is a short stroll up the street, and other attractions including Portland Bill area short drive away. Although basic, the room was comfortable and tidy with four proper beds. The hotel is a little tired, but is clean throughout and has a separate breakfast room. It has a busy pub area, but noise from that was limited. We ate an evening meal in the pub area, which was well cooked and freshly made prepared and good value for money. The morning breakfast which is included was again well cooked was adequate, I paid the £1 surcharge to upgrade to large. The hotel staff we met were very friendly. So all in all, a comfortable nights stay
Great place to stay, breakfast good value for money, plenty of tea and coffee in the room.
Good location to use as a Base for exploring Dorset. Would definitely stay here again.
