This was probably the worse experience i have ever had in a hotel.
The staff are awful, they were aggressive and condescending and unbelievably rude.
They charge a 150 Euro "no smoking" deposit upon arrival which wasn't indicated on the website anywhere i could see. When i asked them to show me where on the website it was they refused. The room was dirty and the bathroom was even worse. The shower was broken and for the first two days we couldn't even use it but the management didn't care, it took a kind cleaning lady to help us out and fix it for us, then there was no hot water. The room was right next to the reception and entrance and so very noisy all night and then they would be hoovering outside your door at 7am.
When we tried to talk to the owner / manager he refused to talk to us or help and was very aggressive, shouting at us to come back at lunch and talk to the other manager (his daughter). But after his response and nasty nature we didn't feel like we wanted to speak to anyone else because we were worried he wouldn't return our deposit and we couldn't afford to loose it, it was a really uncomfortable atmosphere to be in. Overall it was just a horrendous experience and if i had been a women there alone i would have left.
I truly don't think its a business you should promote or one that deserves to be advertised, i think its an awful place to stay.
If all you want is a bed...
Hotel is in a great location. The good points stop there. Our room was next to reception which meant lots of noise, especially in the morning. Had to complain because the heating wasn't working, I was told, 'well it should work'. It was only after I got forceful did they have a look and say they would fix it, which they did. In the Bathroom the shower was broken as was the toilet flush. If you're stuck for somewhere to stay for a few nights this place will do but don't expect much, we survived by staying out late and sleeping in the best we could, before heading out and looking around Amsterdam all day. The guy that owns this place just needs to renovate it and it would be awesome. As it stands now 1/2 a star rating.
