The Aubrey Park Hotel
Good location but pretty average.
The place is like a maze and it was quite a long way from room to reception. Room had reasonable facilities but felt a bit dirty, there was crumbs and grit on the chair and carpet, TV remote was sticky. The bathroom was cramped although that was clean. Breakfast was good enough. Parking was easy.
New Year's Eve stay
The hotel is surprisingly big and easy to get lost.
But it's clean and pretty. There was a lot of parking but gets full very fast. The staff are useless, no sense of personality and quite rude to be honest, they stare a lot and you don't feel comfortable at all. We had a delicious dinner which was a good price, however the menu was small with little variety and our 3 drinks came to the same price as the food!!!. Overall I would say it's a nice hotel but needs new staff or better standards for current staff.
Maybe 4 Star but Disappointing
Found checking in efficient but rather unfriendly.
The room was lovely though. More spacious than most rooms we have stayed in. After dinner, we asked at Reception for a bottle of water for our room. It was free on the table, but we were just told, quite coldly, to ask at the bar. We had a few drinks in the bar area and went back to the room. We had no sleep at all, due to the Xmas Party guests that were staying. Noise all night, from slamming doors, shouting, someone thinking it was funny to knock loudly on your door. Not once did we hear the hotel staff asking people to be quiet. Breakfast was lovely. Good choice of items. On checking out, we were so tired, we could not wait in the queue to complain, so just left the room card on the reception desk.
great stay especially with room upgrade, went out their way with extras I'd asked for
Whole stay was great apart from one bit , as when was checking in a male member of staff pulled a female member of desk staff to near the breakfast area and swore at her telling her not to take anymore f***ing food orders.
The problem was that this could be heard by ourselves. Not great customer service on his part at all and i hope will get reprimanded for his behaviour and attitude. Apart from that would recommend the hotel
Nice enough hotel but annexe rooms are quite basic, our shower flooded bathroom and part of bedroom!
I should have realised from the state of the bathroom door and the carpet outside the bathroom door - the bottom of the door was stained and damaged, and the carpet outside the bathroom door was completely stained.
On the first morning there, my short shower managed to completely flood the entire bathroom and the water was flooding out into the bedroom, onto the carpet, under the bathroom door. The shower drainage was clearly completely blocked but the shower tray was so shallow, with no door (just a lip) that it barely contained any of the overflowing water. My husband had to wait half an hour before he could risk having a quick shower. We were in a rush on the first morning so we complained to the cleaner on our way out, asking him to pass it on (to try to get It fixed) and also replace all our towels (which had been used to mop up some of the water!) - he just said "ok". On the second morning, my husband could see the same thing was going to happen. I needed to wash my hair (e.g. have a longer than 2 minute shower!), luckily we have friends in St Albans so we left the hotel at 8:30am and went to their house to shower. When we left I went to the front desk to complain about it, the receptionist was apologetic and did make a note of it but I can't believe nobody has ever complained before, it was SO bad, so why hasn't it been fixed. And there was no offer at all of us going to shower in another room, or of any money back for the stay. As far as I'm concerned, if you book two nights in a hotel room with an en-suite bathroom, you expect to be able to use that bathroom. To not be able to shower, is kind of missing a key ingredient of a hotel stay. I'm sure we were unlucky and not all the rooms are like this, but I think it's very bad that they are still booking guests into this room knowing there is a problem, and to not offer any compensation at all, when your guests have to go elsewhere to shower, is very bad customer service in my opinion!
Clean and suitable room to meet requirements of trip
A very pleant stay
I had a lovely stay, all the staff where lovely, and the hotel was so much nicer than I had expected.
I don't think the website shows how nice the hotel really is. The room was lovely and the bed was really comfortable. I was staying just one night as I has a show the next day, so relaxing was nice and easy, with lots of channels on the tv.
The Aubrey Park Hotel
Nice size room, very clean and lovely location.
Enjoyable, relaxing stay. Good location.
Staff were very pleasant.
We were also able to have our two small dogs with us.
