About the hotel
In 1213, after the Norman Conquest, the wooded land we now know as Minchinhampton Common was confiscated and given to l`Abbaye aux Dames in Caen. Some 800 years later Christophe and his business partner Nick continue to add to this fascinating Anglo/French story. The Old Lodge itself dates back some 400 years and is reportedly a former hunting lodge to Henry VIII.
The most recent project and the boys only hotel to date. The Lodge has magnificent views and an envied position at the centre not only of the common with its free ranging cattle but of Minchinhampton Golf Course. The stunning restaurant has floor to ceiling windows that look directly onto the common and the professional yet relaxed service is delivered by Daniel Wood and his team. Recently refurbished, all rooms have contemporary decoration with stylish furnishings and luxury linen and bedding. Each room comes equipped with wireless broadband and digital LCD TV as standard. All bathrooms feature either bath and/or power shower. The Old Lodge makes an instant impression. Individually designed rooms, large restaurant, local ales, and roaring log fires in winter guarantee to make your stay a memorable one.

The room we were given for two nights stay was very small no bigger than a large cupboard
We did not feel the room we were given was value for money £92.50 per night for a very small room we could hardly get round the bed and the ensuite door hit the bed everytime it was opened.
The staff were excellent and the food was good but the room size was ridiculous. We could not change rooms as there was a wedding which we were part of and if this wasnt the case we would have left the hotel I think the value of the room should be no more tham £50 and maybe for only one person. Would we stay again only if we had a larger room which we changed to on the third night. Would we recommend the hotel yes as long as people checked their room first and are prepared to spend a lot of money on food and drinks.
The Old Lodge
Room was unbearably hot and stuffy.
Staff were all polite and courteous but seemed dis-organised.
