Quiet & Relaxing
The New Inn is set in a quiet secluded part of Kidmore End.
Our room 'Merlot' was large and reasonably comfortable. However there was only one chair in the room which is a minus point. The television was very up-to-date and excellent quality. There was a super large cupboard for hanging clothes and plenty of drawer space too. The bathroom was only just adequate, slightly small and we did not like the sink. It held very little water and the plug did not fit properly so what little water there was kept running away. It was also impossible to get the kettle under the tap for filling. We had to use a glass and fill bit by bit. There was a private patio outside the room but this had not been cleaned for ages. The chairs and table were dirty and green and the small tiled area needed a good sweep and wash down. We did not indulge. Because it was so secluded and quiet we slept well and had a relaxing stay.
Nice place but service left quite a lot to be desired considering the price
We stayed for just one night.
The room was nice - spacious, clean and comfortable. And the setting is also nice - very picturesque village. Our problem was really with the service. There was a large noisy party going in the garden (although the room was well insulated from the noise). But this did make the pub seem really busy and to affect service. On the evening we waited a long time to be served and then our food took even longer to arrive (and other groups seemed to get served whilst we waited). In the morning there was only one member of the team working on breakfast. Trying to take orders, cook for and serve five tables of guests. Unsurprisingly this didn't really work out too well: although he did his best, he couldn't practically handle that many guests on his own. Really needed more staff. We ended up rushing to get off even though we'd left ample time for breakfast.
