We were told by the gentleman taking us to our room that because we only paid "a cheap" price, we are in the smaller room in the annex which was across the road so not entirely impressed as didn't know we wouldn't actually be in the hotel when we booked.
Having said that, the room was clean but he wasn't wrong it was small. Having a shower in the morning was eventful as it seems that someone was also having a shower in the next room so it ran cold mid way through!!
Very rude and miss leading
The Hotel manager rang myself and my partner being very rude and abusive asking why we hadnt checked in at 1400, the fact that he rang us and gave us abusive down the phone was very poor, as a hotel providing a service he should be available to us when is convenient for his customers.
Also when we did check in he made a point and almost seem to judge us by saying "oh you're in the cheap accommodation, surely as a policeman you can afford something better"
We also thought we had booked to stay in the Crown Hotel, he put us in the sad he called it "cheap room" in his hotel across the road called The Royale.
Also when checking out we had to ring him to come down to reception to hand the keys back, then he had the cheek to say, you could of left them in the room.
Overall very poor hotel, with very poor customer service, my partner and I will not be returning back to The Crown/Royale and certainly will not be recommending it for anyone else.
