Will not be staying here again.

On first coming into the hotel and the room it looks very nice.

However after staying at the Novotel for 3 nights it's not all it seems. The carpet in the room was heavily stained and the air conditioning seemed to have little effect on the temperature of the room. As we where only going out of the hotel in the afternoons and coming back late evening we would sleep in in the mornings. The cleaners came around at about 10:00am, we left the hotel at around 14:00 expecting to come back to our room being cleaned, however this was not the case and our sheets had not been changed and our towels had not been replaced. After ringing down to reception to ask for replacement towels and toilet rolls (as this had not been replaced either) it took them an hour to bring these up to our room. When they had brought them up they had only brought one towel for the two of us. Leaving the hotel the next day we left a sign on the door to say we where out and they where free to clean the room. Surprisingly when we got back the room was untouched and yet again the bedding had not been changed, at this point it was very late and ringing down stairs to wait an hour for them to do anything seemed pointless. The following day we left the room and again and returned to the same situation, meaning our bedding had not been changed for the 2 nights we had stayed and that night as well. We tried to ring 'customer service' to get this changed and failed as it continued to ring out for the 5 times we tried. When first booking the hotel one of the main things we needed was wifi, this came free with the room like most hotels. However after connecting to the wifi there was no signal and it would disconnect after a few minutes. Overall the hotel failed to impress with its shoddy service and lack of care for the guests. I find it hard to believe this hotel has gained a 4 star rating. It's safe to say we will not be returning to this hotel and will not recommend it to anyone looking to stay in Edinburgh.
