Can't wait to go back
The staff could not have been more pleasant or helpful, we felt like visiting Royalty.
I hand written welcome card, from the hotel manager, with a box of complimentary biscuits, was a nice touch. There were free nibbles and drinks at various times of the day. While the hotel was of the older more traditional type it was flawlessly maintained, and spotlessly clean. Probably the first hotel we've stayed in were everything worked as it should and nothing was past it's best or broken. The breakfast had everything we could have wished for and was well cooked and fresh, the fact that the weather was beautiful and we ate outside on the veranda didn't hurt the experience. The hotel was extremely quiet, with no traffic noise or anything to disturb the light sleeper. The only thing that could have been better was the room was slightly smaller than our bedroom at home but was probably as big as the bedroom in most modern British homes. We only slept in the room, so it wasn't a problem, and the room had everything we wanted and more. We are already planning another visit.
Beautiful hotel in a great location.
Very pleasant and helpful staff.
A Peaceful escape in the centre of London
I stayed at the hotel for two nights and was completely delighted with the experience.
The room was very quiet, even though I faced onto the road. The staff were friendly and very efficient from reception, concierge, housekeeper and bar staff. Extra special efforts for my comfort were made since I was suffering from a broken foot. I am returning again in the summer to enjoy the garden and the proximity to London's Theatreland.
A personal hotel
Although this hotel is part of a group of 18 hotels it has something of the feel of a free-standing family-owned hotel, which worked for me.
The cheerfulness and helpfulness of all the reception and restaurant staff, and notably Paulo at the bar, is largely responsible for this. The individual decor and other personal touches also play a substantial part in the personal feel of the place.
Great hotel, excellent room, faultless staff
Exceeded our expectations, really luxurious room which was really quiet, even though it was at the front near the road.
Staff were very helpful and courteous and couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast pretty pricey, although didn't sample it, so maybe it was worth it. Didn't have to go very far to find a delicious alternative however. Overall, great value for money and great location - we'll be back.
When we return to London, I shall not hesitate in booking this hotel again.
Room, food & the staff are fantastic, nothing is too much trouble. We were very reluctant to leave. The staff at this hotel are a credit to the company and their profession & we are very much looking forward to our next visit.
Room not ready.
Room not as good as described. Small and standard fittings. Shower was excellent though
No food eaten at hotel due to prices. Customer service was good but there appeared to be a lack of staff, hence the delay upon arrival. Also not wise to discuss departmental issues in front of customers.
Nice but expensive
A very good hotel.
Anywhere but london it wouldn't be very good value for money but in london there isn't a lot you can do about that, everywhere is overpriced in London as I learned on our trip. Lovely staff though and a really nice once in a while experience
From the moment we enter this hotel we were welcomed by the wonderful staff and this continued throughout our stay.
Beautiful room with lots of character with lovely little touches, robes, slippers lovely toiletries. We also had afternoon tea in the conservatory which was great with so much food. Breakfast with lots of choice both continental and full english. We will be back
Excellent hotel and very close to both British Museum and theatres
I had viewed this hotel on the internet and was somewhat scepical that it would be as good as it appeared for the price.
However, I need not have been concerned. The hotel is a gem and I will certainly stay again - I'm already planning a long weekend with my wife in the spring. The staff are very attentive and friendly; the room was clean and spacious (I was in a standard double) and the restaurant was excellent. Whilst only a short walk from the British Museum, it is also possible in 15 minutes to walk into theatre land - no need to take that nasty tube - although it is close to Russell Square tube station if required. Altogether a very pleasant, if too short, stay.
