Good for the price
The main house looks amazing and is beautifully decorated, although most of the rooms are in a much more modern and utilitarian extension.
Our room was very clean, VERY warm and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was looking a bit tired but for the price we paid we can't complain. Meals were well priced and of the self service variety. The staff were all friendly, with a highlight to the reception staff who kept us talking about the area for ages. I would definitely stay again if we got a good deal from laterooms.
Not the best that we have stayed in.
Tiny room. The main building was rundown. We checked in at 4 and the bar and restaurant didn't open until 6 with no other facilities onsite.
Hotel from hell
This is possibly the worst hotel I have ever stayed and basically anyone who books to stay must need their head examining !!.
I arrived at midnight after a very long day travelling and working to walk into my room to the last guests dirty tea cups and remains of sugar and milk packets , a single bed that my granddaughter would hardly fit in and the last guests faeces still in the toilet as the flush was broken , I could go on and on but sure you get the message !!!!!
do not book
Hotel very old dirty rooms, rude staff
forty minute queue to check in one man on reception when hotel management clearly knew how busy it was going to be as everyone seemed to have pre-booked.
the room we were in was in need of attention, curtains half of their rails, burns on the dresser, really noisy floor boards, several minutes trying to get key to open door guessing lock badly worn. not enough trained staff for breakfasts as there was no clean/set tables to sit at, told staff this and they put clean cutlery on dirty table so had to ask them to clean table which they did, then set it again with same cutlery. would definitely not go back here.
the outside is very impressive but long queues at reception with only one man trying to deal with all customers.
when we asked him to book a taxi for us he said we had to do it ourselves. paid £10 each for a breakfast that was a total waste of money. all buffet trays were empty with everyone having to wait in a queue. no clean cups for tea and coffee. tables cluttered. we had to clear a table ourselves and ask for cutlery. staff standing around talking and not helping customers at all. we spoke to a quite a few people who were all disappointed .no management. sorry but wont be back.
poor quality hotel
took 50 min to check in .
computer on go slow and lack of back up plan evident
Our weekend break.
We selected to stay at this hotel as a random last minute booking.
The building has a lot of character and the surroundings are beautiful. Some of the facilities could be called dated, but somehow fit with the character of the hotel. The room was adequate and comfortable, with the basic normal facilities provided. Staff were friendly and pleasant.
Entertainment in the evenings didn't seem to exist.
My partner and I thought the evening meal was disappointing. Very expensive, without any great choices on a limited menu. We only had a meal at the hotel on our first night stay. As hardly walking distance from any local restaurant, we had to drive into town the following evening.
Overall, good value for money but you get what you pay for.
We enjoyed our stay!. :)
In need of a complete refurbishment
Tired dated and below par in cleanliness, breakfast was dire When did you last see an avacado bathroom suite .
Well this hotel is so dated it has plenty of them. Dirty window spider webs stained carpets lumpy beds .... Need I go on .
The only thing positive is the staff who are lovely
