Great location to Horley town.
Sadly the room I stayed in on the first floor had numerous problems.
No control of heating, room was like sauna, had to leave all window's fully open to get room temperature down so as to get to sleep without covers. Shower was almost bordering on cold no matter what you did with controls. Noise from floor above at all times as they moved around. Great location and cost, if you don't mind not getting a nights sleep, and a hot shower.
Decent Hotel for a night
The hotel was clean and comfortable, the receptionists were friendly and helpful.
It was clean and the bed was comfortable and good for the money - a good place to stay on your way to or from Gatwick or the surrounding area for business or something, but nothing spectacular if you're looking to have a nice romantic break, family holiday or escape. Make sure you book parking if you want it, or if you're out of there before 8am, don't bother because you can park on the parallel street. My only comment is to be careful that what you think you've booked with Late Rooms.com matches what the hotel thinks you've booked.
Get what you pay for
We arrived at 9pm to be greeted by a young lady who signed us in and arranged for transport to take us to airport at 730am.
The room was clean with nice soft beds but we didn't sleep very well because its an old house with very squeaky floorboards, and guests coming and going all night. We had a room facing the road, the windows didn't shut properly so you could hear all the traffic through the night. The transport to and from the hotel is excellent. You get what you pay for and for £38 for one night, £4 ,to park and £10 for transport you can't really complain
Look past the decor and you'll have a great stay.
Plenty of free parking, hotel decor a bit dated and could do with a bit of a clean in places, reception person showed me to my room on 2nd floor which was a nice touch , very dated room with a 1980's style bedspread on, a newly refurbished en-suite which had the most wonderful shower, hot and powerful, room was small where the bed was push into the corner against the walls , but the bed was very comfortable and I had a great nights sleep, tea and coffee making facility's were plentiful.
Short walk into Horley for bars and restaurants. The taxi to Gatwick was £3.00. Rooms are basic but clean.
Staff very friendly, room clean though a little aged.
Gainsborough Lodge Hotel
I was very delighted of my night at Gainsborough Lodge Hotel, my first impression I really like it.
Also very quick deserved from Gatwick Aeroport the room was very clean however I will really recommend to a friend to stay there.
I was not happy at all with the accommodation.
Paid £42 for a tiny room with a bathroom you could barley move in. Also I was charged £4 for parking in the hotel car park and they also wanted to charge an extra £2.50 for use of the wifi. Not worth the money at all.
About Gainsborough Lodge
Basic set up, left to your own devices, very clean, left before cooked breakfast, continental breakfast available to help yourself.
Booked their shuttle to airport £5 one-way. I would book again.
