Fell short of expectations
Upon arrival, we were informed that the restaurant was closed until June due to the chef being injured.
While I have every sympathy with this, I specifically chose this guest house because of the option to dine in and I believe I should have been informed of this change prior to my arrival to enable alternative accommodation to be sourced. The room itself was very dated in decor and likewise the bathroom. When I came to have a shower, this only produced cold water and when therefore opting to have a bath, I found that I was unable to turn the bath cold tap on. To get the right bath water temperature, I had to fill the bath with cold water from the shower. I was unable to report the fault on the first evening as there were no staff on the premises by 7:30pm.
I reported it the following morning when I was told there were no other rooms to transfer to. That afternoon, when returning from a day out, the faults had not been fixed and the owner upon inspecting the bath and shower, acknowledged the problem and a modest discount on the room charge was given. Other niggles included the electric cord for the hairdryer being too short and the mirror over the bathroom sink did not work.
On the positive side, the location was very good, being very quiet and only a 10 minute walk from the centre of town. The breakfasts were also very good.
Welcoming guest house.

I shall be returning.
