The queen hotel is in a lovely ideal position in Todmorden, the management and staff are welcoming the whole hotel is very tired it could be beautiful.Breakfast was very poor quality and served by the cleaner with cleaning fluid on her hands but she was a very polite lady.
The hotel staff do not look smart they wear tracksuits and t shirts to serve breakfast we ate breakfast at weatherspoons the second day which had a lovely atmosphere and smart staff and good choice of food better quality. The hotel should offer room only price as we had to pay for breakfast second day. Such a shame because if the hotel had money spent on it the staff would take pride in it and business would thrive the outside of hotel from rise lane needs painting and looks scruffy.
Like Todmorden: Some very good aspects and some very poor: see the poem on the station.
There has clearly been an attempt to spruce this hotel up.
The beds were comfortable and bedding and towels good quality. But why was there old mould in the corners of the shower. Why did the attentive breakfast waitress wear a dirty black track suit and baseball cap.
Why had the carpets not been cleaned of stale smoke smells. Such a shame , as details were good... the breakfast took some 20 mins to arrive, but was delicious. The location was perfect for us - almost on the railway platform - but light sleepers should be aware - the trains do run frequently. All in all it served our purposes well- having nit been able to make an air b n b booking at late notice ... but more attention to the soft details would increase the impact of all the money which has been spent on the fabric of what was, in it's time, a tremendous building.
