I felt as if they were supposed to be refurbished rooms, and yes ours had been but the carpets were very grubby.

My stay was more ruined as I was upset with how they allowed my 88 year old grandmother stay in such a disgusting room. I'm so glad neither her or my sister had asthma after seeing the mould on the ceiling. I also think that when approached by the customer with a complaint that excuses shouldn't be made and they should just accept responsibility for whats happened. I don't think the room was worth £80 for the night. I wish I pushed for a refund myself.

What a gem

Warmly welcomed by one of staff working on the bar, shown to stunning room, clean, spacious and relaxing.

Dined out with friends but breakfast was superb, served by the friendly owner.

Fine for a night

We stayed here for one night as we were at a wedding at the arts centre down the road.

The staff were all lovely and friendly and let us check in early to get ready. The room was basic but was fine to crash in after a late night and was good value for money. The room could have done with a few extras like bedside tables (no where to put glasses of water or phones etc) and the mattress wasn't great. (You could feel the springs) but overall it was absolutely fine for a nights stay and was about £20 cheaper than other places I had looked at.

OK for cost

Nice pub and the staff were very efficient and friendly.

The carpet in the room was extremely stained. Did not eat here so cannot comment on food.

Birthday weekend

Our host Andy was most helpful, giving advance information regarding parking arrangements and arrival procedure.

The hotel has a modern bar with popular live music sessions on both nights of our stay. We enjoy the live music experience, so it was a home from home for us. The accommodation was clean and decorated tastefully and our room, 26, was warm and comfortable. Because we were meeting friends locally, we did not sample the food, though did note that the bar/restaurant was well attended and popular. The location was really convenient for central attractions.

Could of done better

Note one-do not try n phone ahead to allow your friend to arrive first and you will pay on arrival....why because they will tell you it's ok and then make your friend pay when they arrive before you.

Note two-do not expect two keys to either the main door or the room. Note three-do not expect your friend who stayed out later than you to be able to enter qudos because he has no key and there is no reception.

Note four-Expect friend and numerous residents to get quite irked by making noise to try and gain entry.

Making the whole experience quite farsical just for the sake of getting a key cut, putting a rather upsetting and frustrating end to what was a great night. Thanks a bunch qudos.

Clean, comfortable accommodation at a fair price and good location

I primarily chose this hotel because of the sweet spot between price and location, but it turned out a good choice.

I was travelling by train with shoulder overnight bag so walking was very easy. Positives about Qudos: great location in the town centre; friendly, attentive staff; good food in the bar below (I had the burger and was stuffed); decent beer; tidy room; decent choice for breakfast (even though I was the only person having breakfast the chef was available - I appreciated that); the room wasn't oppressively hot or drying. Not so positives: light bulb was out; no shower gel in the dispenser (I didn't notice the one on the sink until after); scuff marks on the wall. None of these should be a deal breaker, they're small compared to the positives.

Great, central Hotel

Lovely central hotel, good sized rooms; very clean.

Bed comfortable, but it would've been nice to have an extra blanket available. We stayed at Qudos on a Saturday night. We were aware that there would be live music in the bar, and we advised of this again at check-in. We could certainly hear the music, but it wasn't a problem at all. Would certainly stay here again.
