Staff on arrival were abrupt and not particularly welcoming.
Our room was extremely musty. We had to open all windows and put the bathroom fan on all evening to get rid of the smell. We had dinner which was ok but lacked flavour. A strange mix of music was playing during the meal. We were disturbed at 11.00 by a group leaving the restaurant.
On leaving in the morning we mentioned the musty room and being woken by the dinner party. Also we had problems getting hot water from the shower and suggested it should have some instructions. The response from the staff made us feel they were not that concerned. Although he did say he would mention the shower. We felt the hotel was ok but tired and staff lacked interest in the customer.
A good 3-Star Hotel that doesn't pretend it's anything else!
This hotel has a countryside setting about two miles out of town, with very pleasant gardens.
Our group stayed in three separate rooms and each of them was individually designed with different features and facilities. (Take care what room you book if you have special requirements e.g.not all rooms have a walk-in shower). Staff were welcoming and helpful. We did not eat in the evening but breakfast was well-cooked (though the buffet selection was somewhat limited). We would stay here again, it's well worth paying the price premium over the local "travel-lodge" style hotels to get some good service, an authentic country house atmosphere, and breakfast included!
Helpful staff in old world charming hotel
Staff very accommodating , varied vegetarian menu if requested.
Prompt room service. Lovely setting.
Lovely decor, nice rooms, accommodating staff.
I was unsure as to if breakfast was included with the room and was unaware until I read in the booklet in the room that we had to ask to book a breakfast. Therefore we ended up eating else wear after checking out. Only down points was we could of done with more than 2 standard tea bags and the curtain clip to the rhs curtain was detached and on the floor prior to me or my partner touching them.
Sweeney Hall is a lovely hotel in a beautiful setting overlooking open countryside.
The room I stayed in was furnished to a high standard and had two large windows. The staff were friendly and very efficient. The breakfast was excellent with top quality local
Silly things like no remote control for TV, no bath mat, no socket next to dressing table, but otherwise good.
The hotel looks very grand both in its setting of park land and the building - Georgian.
Staff were all very helpful and courteous. Bar was well stocked and dinner was excellent. We had the 3 course table d'Hote which was really good value with plenty of fresh, good quality food served. Wine choice was also good as well as options for wine by the glass. Breakfast also had a good range on offer and again service was friendly and prompt.
We would definitely stay at Sweeney Hall Hotel again.
Lovely view from our room, peaceful.
