Fairmont St Andrews
I am unfortunately a little disappointed with the hotel.
I'm aware the rooms are being upgraded, but my friend who stayed in a NEW room found that the air con unit was leaking all over the carpet!!.
We were in an older room and it was very tired, fridge did not work and the door would not shut, bathrooms a little mouldy and the carpet was not very well hoovered. We had a terrible nights sleep as the pillows were dreadful, I requested new ones which were no better. I would highly recommend taking your own pillows, but you don't expect that in a 5 star hotel!!. The bars and breakfast are lovely!!!.
Not sure I'll be back, quite sad to say!!!

Disappointing accommodation for this star rated hotel
We were attending a wedding at the hotel and had booked with Late Rooms well in advance, however the room was far from satisfactory.
The room and bed were ok but the bathroom facilities were not!. The bathroom was set up for disabled people. The shower was supposed to be like a wet room and had a curtain which did not even go the whole way round. The shower itself was intermittent and was hot then cold, if it was on at a decent force it went all over the bathroom floor. the breakfast the next morning was set up at one end of the atrium and was very cold to sit in. Very overpriced and won't be staying there again!
Would have given food a 6 rating but dining room for breakfast was very cold and therefore food cooled very quickly.
I know there are renovations ongoing and that is probably the reason.
Great stay as always
Hotel going under major refurbishment, however very little disruption for guests, one of our favourite hotels.
Looking forward to next trip.
Have stayed at the Fairmont St Andrews many times and this was a major letdown.
I can understand that major renovations are taking place but this has seriously impacted on customer service.Booked Italian Restaurant for evening meal and quality of food and service was very poor. Originally booked Atrium room but on arrival offered upgrade . to a room with inferior bathroom.
Not 5* Hotel
We were aware that the hotel was currently being renovated which reflected the cheaper price.
When we arrived, they couldn't find our booking, I had to show my booking confirmation. The gentleman then said he had upgraded us to a superior room for the hassle however I had already paid for the superior room (sea view) so wasn't an upgrade. The room was big however there were things that for me would not expect from a 5* hotel - table was dirty, tea and coffee facilities were not clean, fridge was rusty and didnt look clean, no free bottles of water. Bathroom was very old and limited toiletries provided. We tried to get into the pool however there was a queue as it was splash time that allowed children. We had intended to head into St Andrews for dinner however didnt appreciate how far from the town it was therefore decided to eat in the Italian restaurant - we arrived at approx 8.30, they asked if we had booked and we said we hadn't, the girl made abit of a fuss saying let me see where I can put you (there were plenty of free tables) and put us at the back bit (out of the main restaurant) - when we were leaving there were still free tables. Food was ok, overpriced for what we got. Positive was the breakfast was really good. Will be interesting to see what the hotel is like when it has been renovated.

Highly recommend this hotel, good and rooms outstanding.
Great hotel for couples plus very acomadating for family's Italian in the hotel wasn't the greatest would have much preferred the bar and grill but unfortunality was fully booked.
Will gladly go back great hotel.
