Avoid if not a golfer

Title says it all.

However the filth around the shower door was inexcusable.

Very nice hotel

This hotel was lovely to stay in for a couple of days, rooms and general hotel area were clean and looked very good, food and spa treatments were expensive for what is provided though.

Fawlty Towers without Basil

There is no manager in this hotel or is there any semblance of anyone in command.

Fawlty Towers is how another guest described it. The front of house staff were extremely pleasant as were all the staff but they were up against it in terms of delivering a proper service.

Some good, some bad

Hotel seems very clinical, and business and golf orientated ..which is understandable.

We stayed because of a working event the next day and found the service good and staff friendly, but had other reservations. Much of the hotel was very cold, corridors especially, and the room was really cold on arrival and took some while to warm up. Not all the facilities were working when I went for a swim. The food in the restaurant was overpriced (probably aimed at those on expenses) and the service at the evening meal was very slow. We had to ask for the drinks we ordered at the outset, when they came we were brought the wrong wine...although they did take the drinks off the bill as a gesture. Unimpressed. However, a totally different story at breakfast, which was very good. Is this normal, or because the Hotel Group senior management were there.

We had a wait on arrival to the hotel for bar snack food of 1.5 hours due to problems with the kitchen, the member of staff dealing with us apologised for the delay after 45 minutes and said our order hadn't gone through to the kitchen.

He offered us a free pot of tea but after a further 45 minute wait with no food in sight the deputy manager apologised to is again and offered us a 15% discount on our snacks when they arrived and a 15% discount off our evening meal by way of compensation.

Check pool times

We chose the hotel for the pool having stayed there before we knew the pool to be warm and inviting.

Unfortunately they have strict times for Children's access so we were unable to swim at all so do check the times as they are restrictive early am and pm, brilliant hotel if you are not staying with children, arriving late and leaving early!
