De Vere Venues Sunningdale Park
Being a De Vere venue I assumed (wrongly in this case) that I was staying at a hotel complex.
In this instance the accommodation was, as best as I can describe, on a college style campus with rooms inter mixed with student rooms. With any college campus comes students (I do not mind this as I used to be one) who live 24/7 lifestyles and therefore getting any form of decent sleep was virtually impossible. Whilst there was no displays of raucous behavior students do struggle with any form of volume control so I listened into the ways and woes of many on the campus at 3am. On a positive note the location was nice, the room was clean and the breakfast was pretty decent and so all in all relatively good value for money. Unfortunately I couldn't stay here again as I value my sleep too much and sadly my student days are long gone.
Convenient comfortable business hotel
Twin room is a good option for a single business traveller at this hotel as I find the single rooms too small.
The decor is a little dated but it's clean and functional. I stayed for 2 nights and had a pleasant surprise on the 2nd night when a new TV had been installed in my room with all freeview HD channels and access to catch up TV. Should really be standard these days though. Good choice for buffet breakfast, but the waiting staff forgot to offer me tea or coffee. Nice real ground coffee / espresso available at reception free of charge which is a nice touch. I can recommend the Italian restaurant Pazzia in Sunninghill (< 10 min walk).
Room clean and tidy but very small, small bed and quite soft mattress. Accomadtion was very dofferen
Location good for the racecourse.
Don't stay here if they have a wedding on!
When we arrived it looked like we had arrived at a student uni accommodation block, nothing like the fancy pictures they show online we have to even check we were at the right place.
It was a nice check in staff were polite and nice and then we had to drive to our room so don't take your bags out the car at this point. Room was very ... Advage a bit dated and tired. We could tell there was a wedding on straight away. All the guest seemed to be staying in our block they were so loud and inconciderate and the walls were so thin you could hear someone sneeze so you can imagine have 100s of rowdy drunk lads everywhere. Our room was situated at the top of the block directly over the front door at around 2 am we were awoke by the small of cannabis wafting on our room ( we couldn't shut the window as the room as soooo hot!) and we could see around 7-8 lads rolling around and drinking bottles of vodka smoking we waited 15 minutes and the still didn't stop so we called reception. Two men came and moved them on but about 20 minutes later they came back we had to shout down to them to shut up!. It was very annoying and we didn't sleep due to these people till 530 and had to be up for 7 so this just ruined everything for us. Would never recommend this place as even without the wedding you have no privacy as walls so thin. I have stayed at some bad places and this just tops the lot.
Woken at 1.30am by noisy guests trying to get someone to open the door to their room - this went on for about forty minutes and another effort was made about half an hour later ......
complained to reception on checkout and was told it could have been security as there had been a party in the main house and some guests were staying n this annex !
I travel a lot with my work.
I always try to book the best deal but must be comfortable. The hotel was perfect for this on both counts. Rather unusual as this is a conference and training facility so rooms are in dorm like blocks but once in your room it is a perfect hotel room with all facilities you could need. Now I understand the set up I will definitely book again. Great breakfast, didn't arrive in time for dinner.
Used to be a good hotel standards have changed
The standards have worsen thru the years rooms and amenities are dated, no attention to details, missing shades, filthy windows, torn furniture, and fag burned curtains, superior rooms are not superior, all standards are 2* Minus at best.
I love this location but the accommodation is tired dated and unmaintained. Very Disappointed after giving it a second chance.
Hotel pictures vs actual place of stay completely different and very misleading.
This hotel is a group of buildings within the grounds of Sunningdale Park.
I always book a superior room in order to get the nicest accommodation. The rooms are spacious and the bathroom is clean and sufficient, I would not eat in the restaurant again but there are some lovely little restaurants nearby.
