I night stay over
We booked into this hotel, admittedly last minute as we had to be in Portsmouth to collect a car we had bought.
Choice was limited, this looked ok. When we arrived there was some sort of wedding reception on, the place was swarming with badly behaved kids. Room ok but bedding not particularly clean. Hotel quite remote from other places to eat/drink.
We stayed one night but didn't eat here this time.
We have eaten here when we stayed previously and the food was fine then. The family room was clean and comfortable, there was plenty of tea and coffee and biscuits. There was also plenty of pillows. I can't think of anything negative to say. We would definitely stay here again if we needed accommodation in the Portsmouth area.
Booked last min, paid £95 for a family room, the room was a good standard, clean and tidy, reception staff were of a great standard and for a change English was thier first language.
Would be happy to go back again, but would like to see the cost more around £70 than £95.
Only thing was no air conditioning in room with 4 people, room was very hot especially with the heat we had that week very uncomfortable.
Good service provided day and night.
Tired hotel urgently needs a refurb
The room was very dated and urgently in need of a refurb.
Dirty windows even piles of soil on window sills. Bed was comfortable but bathroom set in the 70's. Would not return to this hotel very much overpriced for what you get.
Excellent value for money
We had an overnight stay here and found it to be excellent value for money.
The family room was big and had plenty of room for the four of us, not just four beds crammed into a two bed room as one often finds. There was an ample size double bed and two full size real single beds (not put-u-ups). Our room was very clean and everything worked. There was a great choice of food available at the Hungry Horse which adjoins the hotel. Also indoor soft-play and outdoor playground for the children to run off steam in. There were outdoor spaces to sit and relax also, or just take a little stroll after a journey. Both the facilities and the staff were family friendly. Breakfast in the hotel was also good. All the staff we met were extremely friendly and helpful. There was plenty of parking available. It isn't the Hilton but neither is the price tag. We would be very happy to stay here again.
Very nice staff, great location, breakfast to die for and a great area for those of us that smoke.
Came back from 10 hour shift to find our beds had not been made up, then waited 2 hours for our food to come out.
Not as expected
This is nowhere near the interesting parts of Portsmouth and not suited for public transit.
You have to have your own car or pay lots for taxis. There was a hole in the hall wall, stained carpet in our room and elsewhere, it needs paint. The eating tables feel sticky. Only windows for air ciculation and Sat night there was a wedding with music in the yard under the window until midnight.
