The room was dirty.
The linen was dirty. There were what appeared blood stains on the sheets aswell as a number of hairs on pillows and sheets
We stayed at The Lodge back in May for a weekend away and read some reviews after (which might put people off) but we stayed open minded.
The Lodge was easy to get into (again people said it was difficult to get the key etc but we found this no trouble!) We were contacted by a lady called Cheryl who was very helpful and she told us she had left some breakfast in the kitchen which was nice for her to do. It was very quiet, I think we were on our own the first night and another couple stayed the second night but this didn't worry us as we were out most of the time anyway. It was nice having the place to ourselves though for one night. The Lodge is basic but fine for a base which is what we wanted for the weekend, we would stay there again.
Run down basic self service fire alarm going of for 15 mins all guests wondering around confused
Although I had read the reviews and should have listened was hoping for clean bed but took my own towels.
Was staying in the area for a funeral and limited accommodation available when we were booking. Other guests food was eaten from the fridge. Out of date milk was in the fridge although some fresh milk was also available.concerned as we called out house keeper when fire alarm had been ringing for 15 mins. Feel £130 for two nights was excessive for what we received. On both mornings came down to dirty dishes and food left out. I cleared the kitchen on the 2 nd morning as I was unable to make toast in the mess.
Low budget aka awful
How do the owners get away with this.
Shabby, dirty and looks like the owners are making a killing from unsuspecting punters.
When you arrive some where like this after a long drive, there is little option but to stay, but our instincts were to run away.
I would certainly come back
I found everything pretty clean and tidy, except that the glass table top was cracked and I had to rewash a mug which had a dried ring around the bottom, but nothing serious.
I dripped a bit of water on the table from the kettle and it through the crack of the glass. In my effort to dry up the water, the glass cracked even further. This could have been an unpleasant accident. I consider these very minor and felt that the accommodation in all was very adequate.
Might as well have been a night in a haunted house
Upon arrival the lodge we rang on the door for 5 minutes to find no answer but the door unlocked, walking in it looked quite nice and clean and thought maybe the owners we in another room.
Searching around we found no one. Just a number of rooms with keys in the doors. After about half an hour of waiting and my partner starting to get worried I made the decision of just picking a random room and staying in it. The rooms were small but decorative. Slightly old fashioned with outdated shower and sink etc, the bed was comfy and can't really complain about the actual building. In the morning once again nobody was in the building. Quite scary place to be. We went around the lodge expecting to be able to order breakfast but once again you guessed it, nobody there, we finally have up and went to for a walk to a pub called the old inn for breakfast ( I would recommend this place, much friendlier atmosphere). We spent two nights at the lodge and were happy to get going out of the lodge ASAP. Do not recommend unless you like super privacy.
The Lodge August 2015
We had a great time.
The Lodge doesn't serve food, but that was fine as basically we just wanted somewhere to sleep. The housekeeper met us and sorted out the keys etc, but then just left us to it. They are dog friendly, this was a must. We stayed for two nights, I would happily stay there again.
Lodge hotel stay
We had an awful overnight stay.
No communication from hotel so we arrived not having a clue where I room was. No staff at all on site to help. Eventually through a phone call to housekeeper found room. Room didn't supply enough bed linen or pillows. Bathroom was unclean and stank of drains. The door had a huge hole in it. Kitchen was dirty and no hot water at all during our stay.
Scary, haunted empty hotel
We were informed that this hotel was self-service but didn't realise that meant you had to find you way in via a key fob that didn't work so entered via unlocked patio doors.
Very spooky as no one was in the hotel apart from my husband and myself with lots of open doors. No reception or receptionist to greet you. We wondered around the hotel until we found room no 7 with a key in the door. We locked ourselves in but was terrified and had trouble sleeping. The toilet/water system made a terrible growling noise, there was no hot water coming out of sink tap and the bathroom radiator was scalding hot. If they hadn't have already taken our money, we would have left immediately and gone elsewhere. It was a relief to leave 3 days later!
Althought we had no complaints whatsoever, it was strange to stay somewhere where we didn't get to see any staff at any point!
