Clifton Hotel, Scarborough
The rooms have obviously been refurbished recently and are fresh and comfortable.
The staff were friendly and efficient and our stay was very pleasant.
Hotel clifton Scarborough
Hotel was half full but we were put in disabled room asked to be moved but thay said no thay couldn't.
We had to park on main road as parking lot had been allocated to others the restaurant smells of fish. The hotel advertised sea views but our room had small windows with no view our room was no 8. Love Scarborough wouldn't stop here again.
Hotel e-mailed on day of proposed visit notifying flooded room.
Booking Transferred to the Grand Hotel. Would not deal with this group of Hotels again as - Replacement room in basement with no window or air conditioning. Exterior of Hotel very run down and exterior facilities dirty.
Nice location. Hotel a bit dated.
Excellent location overlooking beach.
hotel a bit dated. Room was adequate for the price we paid but in need of upgrading. Would stay again at discounted rate.
Clifton Hotel, Scarborough
The hotel was lovely and the staff very friendly.
My room was really clean but I thought it was over priced.
Excellent hotel and pleasant stay
Located right near the north bay, I and my 23 year old son, found it perfect.
We came to visit family but also because we love Scarborough. I like the location of the hotel as you can just literally take a five minute walk to sit and watch the sea.
Threadbare towels and awful bed
When I walked into the room I was disgusted for the price I had paid.
The bed was not even a double but three quarters. The smallest TVs I have ever seen. I asked to change rooms. Holes in the thin towels. Window ledge peeling, light bulb not working. Dismal to say the least. Buffet breakfast was cold.
clean room, friendly service, all essential amenities in the room, would definitely return
A little get away
The room was pleasant and good value for money, just a shame the bin hadn't been emptied since the last guest.
Good location, tired hotel
This hotel could be amazing but needs a fair amount of refurbishment to bring it back up to the level of grandeur it must surely once have boasted.
However, it does have lovely sea views.
Parking has to be pre-booked apparently. I was unaware of this. The manager tried his best to help with our parking but as a disabled person, I would expect to see more dedicated disabled parking bays, especially at a hotel that I am sure attracts older guests.
Also, the chamber maids need to check whether the shower gel/shampoo dispensers on the bathroom walls (I hate those things!) are empty. Ours was.
Overall, this is a pleasant place to stay and could be brilliant with some thoughtful refurbishments and modernisation.
