One night break
Staff lovely. Booked and paid for a sea view but due to fog couldn't see out. Def go back again.
One thing - we had a room that had two single beds joined together - not brilliant as left a gap in the middle of the bed :-(
Firstly the hotel is not in Whitstable.
It's in Tankerton. Ok - this is the next door place, but this is not obvious from the website, and the walk between the two is through some of the 'sadder' areas of Whitstable which somewhat skewed our overall experience of the area. Second - we had booked a 'superior sea view room' and had a confirmation email to show this. On arrival we were given a different room. When we queried it, we were told we had apparently not in fact booked a 'superior' room, that this was because of the website - or it was because we had misunderstood - in fact it was everyone's fault apart from the hotel's - despite the fact they admitted having had previous 'problems' with the website we had booked through, but were nevertheless happy to continue to take bookings through them. 'Sorry' seemed a word too far for the general manager who refused to even accept that we had in fact booked the superior room despite the email stating this. No kind of compensation was forthcoming despite a verbal commitment to a reduction on the room rate. Breakfast menu looked great on paper but was sadly lacking in delivery - the kind of scrambled eggs you slice through with a knife & pancakes saturated in some kind of syrup that had never come close to the promised maple, with a few bits of browning sliced banana on top. We had come her for a one night break after my husband recovered from an operation (hence why the bath & balcony of the 'superior' room was desirable) - sadly our stay was anything but special. Fortunately it was redeemed by a fantastic meal at the Royal Native Oyster Stores, which was actually in Whitstable and which we would thoroughly recommend!
Once we were given the correct room it was nice.
Food was pleasant although rather overpriced . We were given melted ice cream on sweet - which the waiter apologised for- and when we asked for another scoop (only one) we were told a charge of £1 would be made. Its little things like that which would stop me booking again.
We had a lovely night, the room was perfect for us.
In terms of location we could not have wanted any more, very happy clients.
OMG Breath taking quality
I was truly stunned at the quality of this Hotel.
I had the privilege to Stay in a double room for the Night (Room 1). I stay in a lot of hotels and by far this was the nicest room I have stayed in for a while. Crisp clean decor . Stunning interior design and themed. WOW WOW WOW
quality hotel, overlooking the sea
Smart room, great service.
Lovely hotel marred by noise
My partner and I visited the hotel the day before Valentines and were met by friendly staff.
Our room was really lovely and we were both very satisfied with the interior and cleanliness of the room. We had a meal in the Bar/Orangery, and the service, atmosphere and food were excellent. Upon retiring to our room we noticed that our room was situated above a Wedding function, with music playing until midnight, which was rather annoying as we hadn't been pre-warned of this prior to booking. Also we had a family next door and due to the walls being so thin could hear screaming children, slamming doors and TV noise which was rather distressing. Reception were empathetic with our experience and offered a refund of 25%, which in hindsight wasn't enough considering the lack of sleep we had. It was a real shame as the setting, hotel, room and staff were really nice and we would definitely return if our room can booked away from functions and noisy neighbours, if possible.
Nice hotel but food terrible!
The hotel is in a great location and is nicely decorated.
Our room was a standard double and it was decorated to a good standard. The bed and linen were great and the hotel was quiet so we got a good night's sleep. Most of the staff were helpful and friendly but a few bar staff and waiters at breakfast were very moody!. Now the food. It was disgusting!!. We ate in the bar in the evening and had to send our food back, which I have never done before. The breakfast was also terrible...soggy and fatty limp bacon :-(. Don't order from the breakfast menu - stick to toast and cereal!. I would stay here again but would definitely eat elsewhere.
Excellent staff, extremely friendly and efficient.
Lovely hotel, excellent room, large TV.
Excellent views across the coast
