Nice and conveniently located hotel
The hotel appearance as you enter is nice.
Our room was ok for a 3 star. Wifi did not work throughout the stay. Reception and swimming pool staff were very friendly. The swimming pool was great. The only negative point is the staff in the Bistro, and for breakfast who seem to be under a lot of pressure and not very friendly. The hotel is conveniently located opposite Asda, and walking distance from the castle. All in all, a nice place to stay overnight (for £102.50 for a family of 3, with a 50% discount) but could improve.
Celtic Royal Hotel
My wife and I stayed for 3 days.
The Rooms are basically furnished with the room and corridors decorated in a "Barbara Cartlandish" Candy Stripe wallpaper. We ate in the Bistro every night. There is plenty to choose from the menu ranging from an £8.00 sandwich type meal with chips and salad to £18.00 8oz steak and chips. The Chef was very accommodating and my wife asked him to make a Salmon type salad rather than sandwiches which he did quite obligingly. The Leisure Area is well set out with Sauna, Turkish, Pool and Exercise room. Would probably go back if I was visiting the area again - and - if I could get the same rate for the rooms - 50% reduction.
Great value for money.
The hotel was a big surprise for what we paid for the night.
A lovely place.
Celtic Royal Hotel
Would certainly return to the hotel - Very pleased with the service, staff, food and accommodation - Ideal for short stay.
Very nice hotel
Bed a bit uncomfortable but overall would recommend this hotel.
Family break away
We stayed in the hotel for one night over the bank holiday, we didn't get into the room till four the room was clean and lovely but could hear upstairs plodding around on the floor all night.
The pool was cold but clean otherwise the stay was lovely and well worth the stay.
We were looking for somewhere special to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary hence we were prepared to pay a bit more than we would usually but we felt that the hotel did not reflect the price.
Nice hotel, clean and friendly staff food also excellent but a poor mattress spoilt our stay - you expect as a minimum a good mattress when paying these prices. We did raise the issue with staff and they offered to swap our rooms but as we were only staying 2 nights the effort of moving rooms and no guarantee of a better mattress we chose to stay where we were.
an amazing hotel and staff
An amazing experience from start to finish.
The staff were friendly, hospitable and helpful. The rooms were fresh, clean and spacious, the breakfast was superb and so tasty and plenty of choice. The leisure facilities were also fantastic and so clean. An amazin experience and we will return. Well done the celtic royal hotel staff and management
Nice old hotel
This was a nice old hotel but was just missing something.
The room was fine no complaints except the TV was so far away from the bed I needed binoculars, but minor complaint. All the staff were polite, as all the foreign workers are that I have met. Where are the locals. Too lazy.
The food was good in the bar; but if I was to complain it would be the beer. £4.50+ for a bottled beer is ridiculous I could have nipped over to Asda and bought the same for a £1.25. No decent draught beers at all. I can see why no locals go there; you need a mix of locals and visitors to give the bar some atmosphere otherwise it is soulless. Otherwise no complaints. The staff are the bonus hope management treat them well.
First class stay
Very impressed with the hotels staff and the hotels facility's.
The whole family thought its the best hotel we have ever stopped in. We stop in hotels about five times a year home and abroad so very well done the Celtic Royal.
