Stayed in room 219.Had booked the suite but was then called after confirmation email to say it was actually unavailable.
Had another family room. On arriving, the room was upstairs. There is no offer of help with luggage so we struggle with child and cases on our own. Room was fair size but grubby. Sticky floor, bathroom tiles look like they have never been cleaned. Towels left on the toilet?. The general cleanliness was very poor. Stains on the walls and ceilings. We were right by a very noisy vent, we assume from the kitchen which would pump the smell of cooking out especially at busy times. It was noisy all day and night. The entire place needs a thorough deep clean and updating. The food was below average and overpriced. There are many staff but they tend to stand around chatting. The tables were stained and seats covered in food and crumbs. The toilets were filthy too. We will not return which is a shame as the climbing frame outside is good and the location is good. We have used the hotel a few times over a few years but will not return there.
Great overnight stay
My only ' complaint' was the bed was not as comfy as it could be and I think some rooms could get disturbed with noise from others.
personally though we had a really lovely stay and thoroughly enjoyed breakfast... even though its extra to pay. Not quite " all American " as no soured cream or grits, but I'm guessing that's because most of Brits don't like either with their breakfast.
Friendly, efficient and comfortable
This was our second time at the 7 Hotel Diner in three years and as before we found the accommodation clean and comfortable.
Our room was a standard double with en suite toilet/shower and a flat screen TV. Our only criticisms were; only one large towel in shower room, only one cup instead of two and the minimum 2 tea bags and two coffee sachets and 4 sugar sachets. I did collect a second cup and more sugar sachets from the receptionist but only noticed we had one large towel after returning to our room and also unable to connect to WiFi as we did not have the password in our room. It was just after midnight by this time and the reception had now gone off duty but there should have been a night porter available near reception but when I visited reception a second time regarding the towel and WiFi the reception desk was unattended and I could not locate the WiFi password among the information leaflets.
7 Hotel Diner
OK for the money
Room small but clean, reception staff ok, restaurant and bar service poor at best drinks over priced breakfast although included in price is a rip off £2.40 for orange juice as an extra, beans and tomatoes cold, restarant manager could not work out how to split breakfast extras between 2 rooms which led to confusion on check out.
Restarant manger chewing gum not a good advert. And staff could not rember the brown sauce we asked for on several occations.
Very small room
Reception on arrival friendly although there were painters at work on the stairway area which was covered by sheeting so you had to be careful.
The room was extremely small but clean. The TV was fixed on the wall at an angle which was difficult to see from the bed. The view from the window was over gas cylinders. Check out was friendly and fine so overall not a great experience but acceptable for one night
Very noisy and boiling room
When I called to book this the receptionist said they would put me in the lovely room at the front with fantastic views.
I get there and walking in was like walking into a sauna. During summertime this really was horrendous. The hearing was 'off' when I arrived so I imagine it turns on during the night.
The traffic noise was terrible, lorries, cars and motorbikes. It was 3am and I woke up and for me this is very unusual as I'm a very deep sleeper. I was sweating like crazy despite not having the duvet on me, I opened the window assuming there wouldn't be traffic at that time of the night. There was and mostly lorries. So hours later I still havent slept. The wifi is supposed to be free and quick. This didn't work and after 2 hours of trying I finally gave up. The receptionist didn't know what to do as she kept saying I have it on my phone. In the morning I told the receptionist and I said I wasn't too pleased about paying the full price. Considering I didn't sleep, the room was a sauna and there was no wifi.
The receptionist said she would speak to the owner. The owner offered a 10% refund to which I turned down and to pass on the message I would be emailing her. Very very disappointed and won't be staying there again.
Good break on a long drive
Had a stop for a few hours on a long journey, room was fine, shower good all ok.
We ate in the restaurant which was fine, but the live music was a bit of a conversation killer as it a bit loud. But I guess it was Friday night, so to be expected.
Great friendly staff, amazing diner with a brilliant chef and kitchen staff.
Food was fantastic . Thoroughly enjoyed my stay here, will definitely return and recommend to a friend.
Beware the Extras
We spent 3 nights here on a bed & breakfast basis.
Our room was 208-- up one flight of stairs, good size BUT no windows, just 2 small skylights. The shower room was modern & clean looking but had a fusty smell. The diner menu is limited--OK for one main meal but monotonous after that. Remember Full Breakfast is to a value of £5, after that every cup of coffee, every piece of toast is charged extra. We paid £7-30 extra on our last morning for a glass of orange juice, one coffee top up & 2 extra rounds of toast. I can not understand the Restaurant Lunch service charge applied twice to our bill, total £3-02, when we did not have lunch there. On check out we found the Receptionist ill prepared & unable to answer our queries.
