Perfect escape - great value for money
Received good communication on the day of how to find and access the lodge.
Very peaceful setting, accommodation was clean and self contained. Paid for the breakfast, there was plenty of food and beverages. Would go back again.
Disappointing Accommodation at Woodland Lodge
Starting with the positive we found the accommodation blissfully quiet, especially at night.
Having a refrigerator in the room was also greatly appreciated. However there was very little personal interaction with the owner/manager who was not there to meet and greet us but instead sent a text to our mobile telephone stating the room was ready and giving us the code to the electronic door entry system. It begs the question of what would happen in the case of any guests not possessing a mobile phone. The door was difficult to open owing to the close proximity of the knob to the door frame - also the brushed aluminium knob could not be turned when wet. Inside the room the bedside lamp was very shabby with tears in it and the lighting in general was quite poor. The insides of many of the drawers were dirty. We were only given one (bath) towel each and no hand towels. Although we left the towels in the shower tray after the first night and they were removed they were not replaced - we had to ring the owner/manager to request some more. The shower did not work properly - it kept going cold. Tables and chairs were provided outside the room but one of the table tops was broken. A nice touch however was the provision of fresh flowers on the tables.
Wouldn't stay again it was bed and breakfast but what happened to the breakfast?
Unique place, excellent value for money
Woodland Lodge is a quirky, unusual and very reasonably priced accommodation option.
The lodges are like large en-suite hotel rooms, with nice fittings including a large good-quality shower and a mini-fridge. Perfect for us to make our base and prepare sandwiches etc while working in London for a couple of days. They offer a tray-service continental breakfast, and although we did not need this were happy to provide a toaster on request - making this the missing link between hotel and self-catering accommodation. The rooms are turned down daily without everything being rearranged annoyingly as in a hotel, and the manager replies quickly to text queries (e.g. about the toaster and wi-fi). The only quibble is that parking would have been awkward if the lodges were all occupied by drivers. It's also worth mentioning that the lodge are literally in a wood and insect life is plentiful. This did not bother us but may do some people. We would definitely come here again, with three nights at the price of less than two at our usual East London hotel venues.
We stayed here one night and it was lovely.
We would stay again for longer. Really sweet little lodge with a lovely breakfast and breakfast bar. Just needed a bigger kettle as could only make one cup of tea at a time.
Lovely location, clean room and a good bed
Ideal quiet retreat.
A little way to civilisation but lovely rooms.
We called a pizza for dinner and were already supplied with wine. So peaceful and a lovely comfy bed.
Best value for money
Best value for money.
But they charged me £3 for wifi and the wifi was below 512 Kbps. This was very disappointing. Rest of all things are ok but bed needs replacement, I mean the mattress is not comfortable. It's ok to stay for a night but not to enjoy with your girlfriend.
Bed very squeaky.
Couldn't turn over without squeaking. Room very cold.
Fire didn't give off a lot of Heat. No bottles of water in room. Shower not very powerful. Damp smell in room.
I stayed in the Woodland Lodge with my boyfriend on New Year's Eve.
The lodge felt very private as we had our own separate entrance without any need for checking in and out. The room was very nice and clean. Overall we had a very pleasant stay at this property.
