The White Swan
Fantastic stay very warm and friendly would defiantly go back
unfortunately when we went to our room someone had had a sandwich and had the pillows propped up to watch Tv while having lunch.
We did mention this to staff but got no response or to offer to clean the room. The breakfast was ok but the evening meals were excellent. unfortunately disappointed by the room and service.
The White Swan
Booked the small double room for three night at the end of July.
The room itself was tiny, and was situated at the back of the building just above the kitchen. Very noisy until late due to the extracter fan and staff. The window of the room had to be propped open with several books as it would not stay open and it was very hot. It was was obvious the room had not been cleaned, the duvet on the bed was torn and dirty the mattress was the worst and most uncomfortable We have ever slept on. The shower was mouldy and left us feeling dirtier than before we got in. Breakfast was a complete farse. Asked for toast, waited an eternity for it to come, when it did it appeared to be just dried bread, asked for it to be toasted to find it just brought back out to us, got up and left. We had booked for three nights but could not stand to be in the place. Spoke the manager who stated he could do nothing for us. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone, the pictures, on the internet are not a true representation of this establishment, so don't be fooled.
couple of wintry days in middleham
Lovely stay....first room hadn't warmed up but very helpful manager gave us a choice of two others...and smaller cosy room suited us fine....lovely setting and lovely base to enjoy local walks...we enjoyed walk along the moor and up Penhill.
Fantastic cooked breakfast setting us up nicely on the wintry mornings and on return later...enjoying the evening menu too. So yeah, lovely stay, lovely hotel and staff. Many thanks.
Hotel actually refurbed 11yrs ago and it shows.
Superior room a joke; bath panel rotten, mould and limescale on shower door, toilet seat did not fit nor stay up,extractor not working, towel rad insecure leaking and filthy, tap loose on sink, bed frame damaged and propped up with a piece of wood, easy chair frame broken, bedspread ripped, rad thermostat loose and unable to regulate, no wardrobe just a coat stand, windows disgusting, whole room cleanliness poor.
Great Place to Stay
We booked this hotel for a visit to one of the racing yard and picked it because it was in the heart of Middleham and it was a great decision.
The staff were excellent especially Glenn who checked us in and was kept busy all night, but he still found the time to keep us updated about when a table would be available for a meal. The food at the hotel was excellent and a really good choice. The specials all sounded tasty and were popular. Great use of local produce for the Yorkshire breakfast. The room was very good and spacious for the two of us. And we had a stunning view over the Dales. I know people book the hotel for the view of the horses but the Dales view was equally good. We really like this hotel and would definitely recommend it and will be booking there again for our next back to the area.
Family 60th birthday celebration
Took family of 6 adults in three double rooms.
This is a great place right in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales with some great countryside around. Glenn (Manager) was most helpful, took us to our rooms, showed facilities, offered help with bags and details of walks etc in the area. Also assisted with taxi booking. We stay at a lot of chain type hotels which to be fair are often cleaner but impersonal. Here, the hotel has a bit of rustic charm, but also had a true warmth and its the sort of place that you would remember. Food for breakfast was very good. Overall, we all enjoyed our comfortable stay here and would happily recommend it to others.
