Not worth the money we paid!!!!
Expecting a lush hotel as the pictures show, this was not the case on arrival.
The rooms are small and dated. We found in our room a hole in the wall, smoke alarm hanging off the ceiling, no lock on the window, no latch for the bathroom door so we couldn't shut it, window stop was hanging off, carpet wasn't down properly and copper pipe hanging off behind the sink. We were very shocked with the room and do not think this hotel can charge those rates due to the poor standards.
Rather expensive for what we got.
Basic double room with a cheap spring mattress that went ping. No clothes hooks in bathroom and a radiator that gurgled loudly in the night. However Bristol hotels in general seem to be fairly expensive so price not too much out of range. Staff response good. Location perfect for what we wanted, on the edge of Clifton and minutes from University and Park St. area. Ground floor pub not too noisy. Good bar with garden. Did not sample the food as had other arrangements.
Clean but shabby
Great little hotel in perfect part of town, good facilities throughout the hotel with a nice basement bar and garden.
Room nice and clean but the bathroom in a poor state with one of the walls by the hanging rails in a terrible state. Bathroom generally in a bad way but no reason as it would take a day or two max to sort out. The other major problem with the room is the walls were so thin I could hear next door chatting til they went to sleep.
Good value, Very friendly & HELPFUL STAFF.
Super clean bathroom. Only criticism: Hot night & unable to open window more tha couple of inches. Health & safety gone mad. There was, however, an electric fan, but my partner found it difficult to sleep, with this running.
Not what we expected
The staff were very friendly however the room was not what we'd expected, wasn't very clean and wasn't in good repair.
Channings Hotel - A good stay
I had a pleasant room, well-maintained by cleaning staff and a good range of pleakfast options.
Staff were generally helpful and they stored my bag for me after I checked out on the last day. I was a bit worried that sleeping over a pub I would be kept awake by revellers but sound-proofing was good so no problems.
Great place to stay
Everything was very good, especially the atmosphere that the old house provides.
Nice handy hotel
Friendly and handy for town
Bedrooms require refurbishment
Good breakfast, no parking near hotel, and rooms require refurbishment.
The location, although technically in Clifton, was only a few minutes walk into Bristol centre.
It was a very quiet location, although I was told that this was due to it being during the Easter break and that it gets a bit noisier during college term time. It was close to the University, Art Gallery and Museum, and not too far from Clifton Suspension Bridge. The room was very pleasant with a very comfortable bed. The TV was newish and had all the freeview channels. It also had a bath as well as a shower. Breakfast was not included so I made alternative arrangements. That I didn't realise is that the hotel does a very low cost full English breakfast including a vegetarian option, which I would have had if I hadn't made alternative arrangements.
