The Churchill Hotel
Room very small Plus £10 a night for parking Not what I would call value for money
Room was booked as a surprise for my partner.
The room (112) was very small for a standard room and looked over the car park on the ground floor. Before 7AM we were woken by trolleys being pushed into the wall outside our bedroom window presumably by housekeeping/catering staff. Not a restful stay nor the 'luxury' experience promised.
Air con pointing down at one bed made it too cold for one bed and didn't really affect the other.
Also the shower was slightly confusing, 3 different places where the jets were coming out.
Small very small & ensuite tiny
Our room was very small, the en-suite was tiny, very odd shape like a triangle, everything was shoe horned in.
Have stayed several times & always got a decent size room was very disappointed was only for one night luckily. Was told this was a standard room was more like a single room. Although was nice decor, towels & toiletries. The staff were helpful & friendly. Handy for the city easy drive in. I would stay again if I was guaranteed a better room.
Good value for money , breakfast really good and served in lovely surroundings Only issue was car park was full during stay .
Room 109 was pokey and smelt of damp.
The DAB radio couldn't pick up any station. The shower although it looked impressive was lacking power and adjustment. As we were only there for one night we didn't complain but mentioned to reception that the room was very small and was told all the double rooms are the same size!!. You need to stay in a better room to make this acceptable but then the cost would be too much. We also queried about the parking charges as there is no mention of charges on Churchill's own website, we were told if you book direct there is no charge and yet there is a sign in the car park stating there is a £10 charge, strange. The only saving grace was the breakfast which was very good, however if you are on a B & B rate you can only have the continental + Full English, this means no cereal just toast/croissant and a cooked meal.
Hotel was exactly what we hoped for, perfect from walking into reception to being shown to our room, would definitely recommend
Just that £10.00 per night expensive for parking
