Great stay at Victoria House

We received a really warm welcome on arrival and we're surprised when we saw how big our room was.

Lovely big bathroom too with a large corner bath. everything was spotless, spacious and very comfortable. COULDN'T have wanted more. Great value for money.

Lovely Staff. Rubbish Room!

Room 6 is not fit for paying guests.

We were very disappointed, we didn't expect luxury, but certainly didn't expect broken door latch on bathroom door ie it had handles which flopped around as the rest of the fitting just was not there. Leaking radiator in bathroom, pile of old damp dust in the corner behind bathroom door. Shower head would not go up had to shower with it at waist level. Carpet in bedroom grubby, lumpy pillows, handle on bedroom door also had bits hanging off. Dirty marks on walls . On second night we had no lights but had already started to undress and couldn't be bothered with the palaver of getting someone to fix them so reported in the morning. The appearance of the hotel needs sprucing up and it needs a blooming good clean (even the swing door at entrance felt sticky and looked so grubby. Yeuk!) Come on guys stop taking bookings for your room 6 and get it sorted! The food really good (fish and chips best we've had in a long time and breakfast was perfectly adequate. The staff were lovely and we didn't have a problem with them got 20 quid knocked off bill which was appreciated. This is the second time we have had this sort experience in Edinburgh hotels, come on hotel owners don't give Edinburgh a bad name!
