Noisy room meant a poor night's sleep
I had a room at the front of the hotel overlooking Gower Street.
Despite having the windows closed, the noise of traffic was extremely audible / irksome and badly disrupted my night's sleep. I would not use the hotel again for that reason alone.
Breakfast in the morning was good though - freshly cooked to order.
Fairly typical of converted Georgian house hotels in London.
Not a poor hotel by any means and reasonable value by London standards.
As is fairly usual for such converted Georgian house hotels there is no lift, so not good for anyone with mobility issues. Rooms on the front of the hotel, as mine was, will be noisy due to them facing Gower Street, which is a busy road and the secondary glazing is no substitute for full double glazing. There is a nice little outdoor area at the back of the hotel, which is definitely a bonus in London. Breakfast was of a reasonable standard and was included in the room rate, which was good. However, the dining room is small and one couple had to wait for around 10 minutes until a table became available. My room was compact and a little titled but acceptable. There is little sound proofing, so be ready to listen in to other guest's conversations.
Overall the hotel offers reasonable value and is well located, but the drawbacks are enough to mean I would not consider staying there again.
