About the hotel
The Comfort Inn City Centre Birmingham is conveniently located in the heart of the cosmopolitan city of Birmingham, this charming hotel is housed in a beautiful, red-bricked Victorian building just a stone’s throw from New Street Station and the famous Bullring shopping centre. With a wealth of restaurants, bars, theatres and attractions just waiting outside its front door, it is the perfect place for both leisure and business customers alike. A historical landmark in its own right, the original building dates back to 1883 and great deal of care has been taken to ensure it still retains many of its original period features, including a marvellous pull-cage lift.
However, guests can still look forward to experiencing all the contemporary amenities that one would expect from a hotel of this calibre. The Comfort Inn Birmingham prides itself on its uncompromising commitment to customer service, combining resolute efficiency with a unique personal touch. When it comes to accommodation, the comfort and convenience of guests are the cornerstones upon which all of the rooms are composed. Each of the 40 tastefully decorated, en-suite bedrooms are well-appointed with all the amenities needed to guarantee a relaxing and stress-free stay. This includes Wi-Fi access for a fee, television, telephone, tea & coffee making facilities. Whether business or leisure, a family or a solo traveller, there are a range of room types to choose from, including Single, Double, Twin, and Triple options. Business travellers in particular will appreciate additional conveniences like copy and fax services, as well as two on-site meeting rooms. With capacity for up to 50 delegates, these are perfect for hosting a multitude of corporate events including seminars, training sessions and conferences. What’s more the ICC is only a 15 minute walk from the hotel. Also, we are proud to be a pet-friendly hotel, if you would like to bring your well behaved companion along with you, please get in touch with us after making your booking. Charges may apply. Each morning guests can look forward to starting the day with a traditional English breakfast, or if they prefer, lighter options are also available (please note no restaurant is available in the evenings). The Station Bar, located on the premises, is a great place to unwind after a long journey or a frantic day’s high-street shopping. Offering a fine selection of beers, wines, ales and light snacks, guests are free to relax and enjoy the friendly ambiance or perhaps watch a game on the large screen TV. The city of Birmingham is renowned for its abundance of exciting attractions, whether it’s an action packed weekend, a romantic getaway or a business trip there is truly something for everyone. No account of this vibrant city would be complete without first mentioning the fantastic shopping; The Mailbox offers big brand indulgence from the likes of Harvey Nichols, Hugo Boss and Emporio Armani, whilst the Bullring, one of the UK’s largest shopping centres is perfect for favourite high-street stores such as Topshop, Apple, DKNY and of course the iconic Selfridges. And what with the colourful markets and the world-famous Jewellery Quarter, it’s a virtual shopper’s paradise. The cosmopolitan nature of Birmingham is reflected in the sheer quality and choice of its many restaurants and eateries. From Michelin Stars and stylish dishes to traditional pub lunches and tasty snacks there is something for all budgets and culinary palettes to enjoy. It’s no surprise that the nightlife in Birmingham is as thriving and energetic as the city itself; with an endless selection of exciting bars and night-clubs as well as comedy clubs, theatres and gigs, there is always something happening. Just a 15 minute walk from the hotel is the National Indoor Arena, one of the busiest large scale indoor sporting and entertainment venues in Europe. Those seeking more cultural pursuits are just as spoilt for choice. The Hippodrome, Birmingham’s flagship theatre and home to the Birmingham Royal Ballet, has everything from Opera to musicals. There’s also the Alexandria, an exquisite Edwardian auditorium offering a rich mix of drama, comedy and concerts, and the Repertory Theatre renowned for its original plays and family friendly entertainment. The Ikon is one of Europe's leading contemporary art galleries and the Barber Institute of Fine Arts has a balance between old and new. Further afield, the NEC, the UK’s largest exhibition centre, is only a 20 minute drive from the hotel. This venue is host to over 160 exhibitions and 2. 5 million visitors each year. Birmingham Botanical Gardens, less than a 10 minute drive away, offer 15 acres of beautiful gardens and glasshouses where visitors are free to enjoy the serene tranquillity of nature. Not somewhere I would choose to stay again
Very expensive for what they offered.
Bar area very poor and full of people from the streets drunk and very loud, bar closes at 10pm during the week leaving me waiting for a colleague to arrive without a drink then the staff turned off the TV while I was watching the news. People hanging around reception drinking their drinks as bar closed but obviously not staying at the hotel. At over £100 per room I expected a bit more than what we got. Very grotty from outside too and reception tatty. Near to train station which is probably why it cost so much but def wont bother again
