Beautiful Hotel but needs a little TLC!
This is a beautiful old hotel, well located with some v impressive features, the service was very good and the food delicious - however the room itself ( a family room which I shared with my mother and daughter) definitely needed a bit of updating.
It was a spacious and clean room with a double bed and a single however the mattresses were v uncomfortable and the bathroom was tiny. A couple of the lampshades had burn marks on them and there was a chunk of porcelain missing from the lid of the toilet cistern. I appreciate this is a very old hotel and the decor needs to be kept in character but I was disappointed with the standard of the room given the price we paid.
Check with hotel about spa treatments and availability. Daily Hotel Parking is £10 MF £15 SS
We had a midweek break just before the school holidays and I have to say the staff in all areas were all great, very friendly, welcoming and helpful.
The hotel is lovely, well decorated and very comfortable. The food at the hotel is very good including the breakfasts. The room we stayed in was in the kings quarters on the 1st floor room 1112 and although a lovely comfortable large room with a lovely huge comfortable bed and a good size bathroom with powerful shower. There was also a bath and a selection of soaps and gels. Unfortunately, there was a smell coming from the shower cubicle and the seal had deteriated at the bottom of the shower door. This room is also close to a main road which can be noisy early morning if you like to sleep with the window open.
The spa treatments and tranquility suite wasn't available when we went and we had to go elsewhere so I would prebook and check with hotel for availability if you require these. There is no Sauna, Steam room or Jacuzzi. Parking is available on hotel grounds at the cost of £10 per day and £15 on the weekend. There is a car park next to hotel at the cost of £6 per day. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and I would return a third time. Thanks
