First ever stay at Holiday Inn
Only problem encountered was my daughter and I booked an executive room with twin beds.
She is 42 and I am 71 years old. This hotel apparently does not have executive rooms with twin beds. I refused to take the room and because the lady at reception told us that there were no other twin bed rooms available, I told her that we would have to find alternate accommodation at another hotel. She then told me that she could not refund our prepaid booking.
She then offered to call the manager. After wailting a few minutes, we were told that a standard twin bedroom was available. My daughter checked it out and in fact we thought it was a much nicer room than the original executive room. They also gave me a refund for the difference in room rate..... so all was well eventually. Only one more gripe however. The next two adjoining rooms were occupied by what seemed to be an enormous noisy family. But at least the noised stopped around midnight. They were also there for the duration of our stay.However we decided not to complain.
Fine - don't look to closely at the fixtures and fittings...

I'm sure the loud banging at 0630 in the morning was not to do with the hotel. The real negative was the dismal grey and grey photo prints that followed you around the building and into the bedrooms; terrible close up shots of London landmarks with insipid grey/grey/grey colouration. Seemed to sum the place up - fine with overtones of grey.
