Above a lovely pub, simply appointed rooms, bit smelly and noisey, good breakfast
10 rooms above a pub off Mare Street, Hackney and you'd be expecting much worse.
The rooms are simple, with nice but small showers. The pub and the staff are great, very friendly and welcoming. The small winding hallway to the rooms smell of 10 year old smoke which I guess is a nightmare to get rid off, the creaking floor boards and close proximity to the other rooms and guests makes the overall stay a noisey experience. The breakfast and morning welcome is lovely.
The old ship
I really enjoyed staying here, the staff were great and the general feel of the place was good.
If you like real ale, then the old ship has a great wee bar, and there is another pub at the end of the lane with a micro-brewery on site.
