Needs some love and care

This was most probable once a lovely little b&b above a friendly pub in bewts y cowed.

We stayed here Saturday night (3/9/16) and it wasn't the most nicest of stays. The room smelt of stale cigarettes throughout, the bedding was discoloured not been renewed in a while, draws fell apart when opened so didn't use them and shower and toilet room was very small and extremely basic. This hotel needs some time and effort put in it to it, some better hygiene and just a bit of a personal touch. Very basic, wouldn't book again.

Family run business with offering good service and vale for money

Although the room I stayed in was a bit old fashioned, it was clean and comfortable.

The decor was good but the fittings were old fashioned,. The pink bathroom suite looked like something from the 70,s but it was functional and clean. Nice touches like shampoo and soap, coffee, tea etc showed a willingness to offer good service. I had the last double room on the front of the house overlooking the main road. It was a warm night so I had the window open. I was surprised how quiet it was and slept well for the entire night. I didn't even hear the music in the bar. The room was comfortable and bright and I enjoyed sitting in the armchair in the bay window people watching. The son of the owner was brilliant. Polite and efficient throughout the visit from check-in to serving my meal in the evening.

The food was lovely. I had an evening meal and the breakfast and everything was cooked to a good standard. I'm an early riser and I wanted to go for an early run. The front door was locked and there isn't a front door key with the room key so I had to put the front door on the catch so I could get back in. I've stayed at the Pont-y-Pair before. Different front of house team but equally as good so this wasn't a one off experience. I'd definitely go back there
