About the hotel
Weston Hall originated in 1550 when it was built as a small dower house. In early 2012, the Petrouis family took on Weston Hall with a view to making major refurbishments over a 6-month period. After restoring the building to its former glory, Weston Hall re - opened on 16th November 2012.

By day, The Cellar Bar & Lounge will serve delicious afternoon teas. This overnight stay was to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday.
On arrival the room was shiveringly cold yet the girl taking us up said nothing about the lack of heat or how to operate the heating. There were dust webs across the top of the lamps and around window frames. One of the three window blinds could not be lowered due to a broken cord, fittings in the bathroom needed repair work and a receipt dating back to early October (we were there late Nov) was on the floor, all indicating that the room hadn't even been checked/prepared prior to our arrival. The evening meal. On being seated the waiter suggested a bottle of tap water which we accepted although I would expect this to be brought as a matter of course. Having ordered the food we then had to ask for the wine list which took a while to materialise. Having invited family to join us, the two meat options were very nice, however the two vegetarian meals lacked flavour. For this calibre of restaurant I was amazed to see waiting on staff wearing blue jeans. After a disturbed night due to the bins being emptied in the early hours and the outside light being triggered numerous times and lighting up our room (partly due to the broken blind) we arrived for breakfast at around 9:20am (served between 7:00 and 9:30am) to find the food bar completely cleared. No-one asked who we were therefore how would staff know whether all guests had eaten, knowing to finish service - very poor planning. The young staff, although polite and helpful when asked for anything, didn't seem to have been trained to the standard one would expect, ie when ordering tea with breakfast it was served in individual cups and a pot for two only produced once we had requested it. Overall a very costly mistake. Oh, and don't bother writing to the manager. All you will receive is a glib reply from some other staff member who could do with being shown how to write a business letter and address an envelope - making me wonder if the manager ever saw my letter at all.
Unfortunately all of these 'little' things led to a very disappointing experience and marred what should be happy memories of an occasion worth celebrating.
