Cheap and cheerful

The car park is tiny and the exterior is a little off putting - quite old fashioned.

I was concerned I'd booked us into a pub rather than a hotel. However once you get past the bar, which really needs doing up, and the local regulars, that stare at you like you're something from another planet, the upstairs is really nice. The room was well renovated with an en-suite shower room that looked very newly done. The beds were comfy and the room was warm, possibly a little too hot. The only downside to our room was the ill fitting windows that let in so much noise it was like being part of the conversation with every passerby and the traffic noise was incredibly loud.

Nothing for my child to do whilst waiting for breakfast till 8am so I was a bit annoyed I hadn't realised breakfast was so late, I would have preferred it to be available from 7am as it is on working weekdays.

The staff were all incredibly friendly and breakfast was reasonable. The pub really needs some doing up as well though as there is paint peeling off the walls and the furniture is a bit tired. It does not match the upstairs at all and had I seen the pub first I'd have been really put off.

Overall a nice stay with nice people working there. Just needs a bit of care and attention on the windows and downstairs.
