A perfect place to stay

We couldn't have wished for a better place to stay.

We were very lucky to get a late booking due to a last minute cancellation. Our plan was to arrive early and get local public transport into Scarborough so we could forget about the car. We arrived at 9:30am and despite check-in being 3:00pm the owners could not have been more accommodating. They allowed us to leave our bags, nip to the toilet and even made us a hot drink whilst we checked out the local bus times.

The room was beautifully decorated and very very clean. The breakfast was all you would ask for. The house is also set in beautiful surroundings and in a very pleasant village. The owners could not do more to answer any question you had. Tips : If you follow our plan then I would say the local bus is a tad expensive at £7.50 return per adult. It also takes about 45 minutes. A plus side of this though is that we got to see half a dozen beautiful North East Yorkshire villages along the way. The other option suggested by the owners was to drive and and use the park and ride. Another tip about the bus is that the last one back is at 18:30, although in 8 hours we managed to get all out of Scarborough that we wanted.

If your plan is to have an evening meal out then there is only one local pub / restaurant in the village called The Grapes. We tried a few times to book hoping they too had a cancellation but we could not get in. The owners of the B&B told us it gets booked up weeks in advance. So if you book the B&B early book a table there too. We did manage to turn a negative into a positive though as we got a table at The Coach House in the next village called Snainton. The food and value for money were 5 stars.
