Traditional rural pub/hotel clearly past it's best but nevetheless gives good value for money and makes a fine stop for travelers particularly those use the Hadrian's Wall Path.
Hadrans Wall stay
Double room with ensuite a good size but small window opened above kitchen which meant cooking smells.
No view and window graced by old fashioned nets which didn't fit. Seemed recently painted but wallpaper, colours etc very old fashioned making it seem very dingy and tired. Black mould in shower was a turn off - poor pressure too. Breakfast of poor quality - both left half of it. Plusses are comfortable bed, location ( for wall walkers), good beer, excellent evening meal and very friendly staff. Need to modernise decor in room and provide reasonable toiletries to justify price.
