Decent hotel, great value out of season
We needed a 1-night stop over for the family in Scarborough.
Having read the reviews we were a little cautious as to what to expect as they varied quite a bit but actually we had a great time. The hotel is a great venue, right on the seafront within 1 minute of the town centre, 5 minutes to the beach, with a discount rate at the local long-stay car park. OK, the decor is a little dated but the room we had was clean, warm - no signs of mould in the bathroom. The windows could do with being replaced as they let a bit of a draft and sound (more of that later) but the radiators kept the rooms very warm. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We didn't try the swimming pool so can't comment on the facilities - although the chlorine smell does pervade at times. My only gripe was the noise from outside the hotel. We were on the 3rd floor at the rear which backed onto a thoroughfare into the town. Some traffic/loading noises were heard at night and a particularly shrieky gaggle of hen-party types disturbed the otherwise peaceful time in the early hours, along with the throb of a local nightclub. £10 each for breakfast is a bit steep, especially for children, although there was a good selection of cooked foods, cereals and pastries -but the overall cost of the night for 4 was less than our evening meal -so can't be bad.
Last minute might away
Went online booked on a Friday morning for that night as a last minutes decision.
For £49 can't go wrong. Dated and tired but clean, can't expect anything more for that price. Good location couple minutes walk to high street and the sea front.
