1 Week Stay
On arrival (45 minutes after you're allowed to check in) my room was not ready, as I arrived on a Sunday with not much else to do I was pretty relaxed so just decided to go and have a drink in the bar, fine no complaints.
I then finished my drink and my room was ready, the staff were helpful and took my things to my room for me however when I got up to the room I was a little disappointed, it was tiny and I mean tiny, a single bed as well which on booking and for the price I was paying I was not aware of/missed. I accepted that I was travelling along so began unpacking my things to try and make the most of the comforts there were and sat down on the bed to watch some TV. This was a nightmare, I could not get a signal for the life of me, I desperately tried standing on things, walking as far as I could with the short cable aeriel and still no luck so eventually gave up. I decided on an early night of 10pm for the long week I had ahead but was soon woken up at 11pm by one of the ceiling lights coming on, bizarre. I tried every switch possible multiple times and the light was not turning off, begrudgingly I put on a fleece and went to reception in my pj's. The gentlemen at the desk was confused so came to my room to have a look, he said it was the light that comes on in event of a fire and couldnt understand why it was on, he reset the power box and it went. Then proceeded to ask if i wanted to move rooms (I did but it was late and by this point I was very tired and a little miffed so just said no, i'll probably move tomorrow morning). This light proceeded to come on and off as it pleased all night long, I got next to no sleep so went to reception as soon as I was up and showered and moved rooms. My new room was across the hall, an maybe 3ft wider, not happy. 95£ a night I was paying, a ridiculous amount for a tiny room, let alone the poor room functions. Come the end of my stay with no more problems in my room other than it being a bit small and the air con refusing to come on once I still was not very happy with my stay so asked for my first night to be refunded or at least a big reduction. I was allowed 15£ off my nearly 500£ week stay. After all this and a little push for more (with no luck) I took my bags and left with no reason to ever want to go back. To top it off the manager who checked me out after taking my £15 off the stay proceeded to say, if she had it her way she would make the first room I stayed in a laundry room!. I laughed painfully with no effort to argue or react. Despite my issues and somewhat bad luck the hotel was nice the restaurant particularly with very good food at dinner and breakfast but WAY to overpriced. I would only ever come back for the restaurant, never stay again.
Overnight Accommodation - Could be Excellent.....
Single Room for £85 - would expect everything to be perfect.
Unfortunately the TV had a booster which didn't work unless it was hung on the toilet door and reception was still intermittent. Could be rectified with a longer cable and then fixed to the wall. Toilet floor tiles were loose along with the toilet as well so all in all thought was over priced for level of accommodation. On the plus side room had air conditioning which was useful due to being a really hot day/night and the breakfast was amazing, Sweet Potato Hash with Bacon and Poached Eggs - yum yum...
