I was disappointed with the look of the place even though we arrived in the dark.
It needed redecorating and new carpets etc. It was very dull and unattractive. The owner explained he was rebranding the place - hopefully that will include some updating. The room was ok in size and had a TV and a small kettle for making tea and coffee. The ensuite was very compact and you had to hold down the tap to get water - not good for face sluicing. The electric shower worked well but the cubicle was small and there was nowhere close by to hang your towel. The towels were brown in colour and the bedding navy blue. These two things alone made the room look dowdy and dirty - even though it was probably very clean. Again the room needed to be brightened up. The breakfast room was bright and spacious and the owner made us a coffee from the machine. There were plenty of boxed cereals to choose from and bread. There was a shortage of continental style breakfast items - somehow I expected fresh breakfast/bakery produce eg eggs, ham, fresh fruit, cheeses, croissant. The owner was pleasant and helpful - but we could have served ourselves breakfast.
The hotel is set on a riding stables set in beautiful countryside.
The hotel is value for money and satisfactory. The cleaning standards could be improved and the shower cubicle smelt damp.
