Castleton Hotel

We finally managed to find the hotel (after ringing the hotel 3 times and nobody wanting to help or give directions) after 4 hours of driving.

We were looking forward to getting our cosy room and relaxing. Sadly this wasn't the case. A far from welcoming reception. Our room was in third floor with no lift (I didn't realise how unfit I was until 6 flights of stairs tested me). Also seeing 2 mouse traps and poison boxes didn't put us at ease. Our room was small, dated and uncomfortable. We definitely got the impression it hadn't been cleaned for a while. We then noticed our 'bathroom'. At this point I couldn't help but laugh. For those of you who went to university, imagine the small pod-ensuites you have in halls - or imagine an airplane toilet but with a shower stuck in there as well. My partner, being 6ft4, found the shower near on impossible to use. The overall cleanliness (lack of) and unwelcoming feel to the place meant we didn't even stay for breakfast, which we were told was in the basement. Gulp. And for what they charge... at least there was parking though.

Okish

Was there for one day, booked a single bed but was given a three single bed room don't know why when I was alone??!!.

Room carpets were dirty and didn't look good enough for London standards

Toilet was clean though

The room was noisy due to other room toilets being used and was woken up at 5 am by noisy work being done or something which was annoying. The room was next to the main road and the noise from outside( cars bikes etc) was very loud !. Breakfast was ok
