Quality Accommodation let down by limited food choice
First class room - we upgraded to a course view as it was the last day of our road trip around France, and although it was a bit pricy we thought the room was excellent. The whole experience was let down by the choice of food which was pretty pricey and too high end - even the few room service dishes were from the main menu. Had there been a few choices of simple straightforward food like steak frites or omelette then we would have been happy to stay at the hotel for the evening and enjoyed a few drinks and the marvellous view across the golf course. Instead we had to venture into St Omer to eat (there really aren't any restaurants anywhere near the hotel) which on a Monday evening wasn't a particularly thrilling experience.
The golf clubhouse doesn't do any food in the evening, so I feel the hotel is missing a trick on the restaurant food. Even if I'd been staying for a few days' golf with my golfing mates I think we would have found the menu too restrictive and a bit overwhelming - just too fancy and too expensive!
One other minor point - the safe in the room provides instructions on how to set up a code and lock the safe - but no instructions on how to open it (you need to remember to enter the # key at the end of the code). To set up the code in the first place you have to slide a cover back to reveal a green button ... so having left my laptop in the safe I returned to find that the safe wouldn't open - the cover turned out to be the battery compartment cover and the batteries had fallen out! Won't make that mistake again!!
Overall, an excellent hotel and I think I might be back with my golfing mates (course looked lovely), but someone needs to fix the restaurant menu pdq.
