location is ideal
The hotel is excellently located for ease of access to the train station and close to restaurants and shopping.
It has a slightly old fashioned charm, the room was clean but not the luxury double we had ordered. Be aware that the breakfast may be an
added extra, something that we did not discover until the last day. My mistake but only found out because that staff member asked us that morning!!. The food itself was a good continental buffet but at £25 per room per day not exactly a bargain.
Hotel was in a reasonable location for Brussels North Station
I booked two rooms for myself and my friend in Hotel des Colonies but was actually put into a 'sister' hotel called Siru at the same location.
The Siru was not at all historic, in fact, it was very modern in decor. I did point out that we were supposed to be in des Colonies but was told they had overbooked. There were dozens of schoolchildren on trips with their teachers who could not control them. Their ages were about 14 - 16 and they were running along the corridors until midnight, shouting and knocking on doors. I did complain to reception and it was dealt with but happened again the following night. It spoilt our break. The breakfast was quite expensive at 15E
